What happened in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode 11?
The crew begins the episode of Below Deck Mediterranean by preparing a fire and ice party as per the demand of the oncoming guests. Gael and Joe pick the guests up from the dock on a tender boat, with the crew acknowledging Gael taking control and sailing it perfectly.
Mahisha is not impressed by the size of the tender boat and after arriving at the ship, she asks Aesha for a good spot to take a photograph as they head to Aegina, Greece. Aesha proceeds to suggest two spots - the sun deck or the space near the couches if they prefer shade.
Mahisha states that the "couches are an eyesore" and suggests removing them so the guests can click a photograph. She also asks Aesha to fetch her the martini glass which is a mere few feet away from Mahisha, irking the crew in a wrong way.
“I am more than happy to go and grab your very, very close drink for you. Just ask me politely,” Aesha quips in a confessional interview.
Ellie and Bri have had several conflicts throughout the season of Below Deck Mediterranean. Similar to what happened in previous episodes, Ellie takes a dig at Bri when she can't find her black dress due to Bri not doing the laundry on time.
“It’s not been washed. Shocker. We’ve been treating Bri like a baby deer. If I bring this dress up and get Bri fired because of it, it would be like I had shot Bambi. It doesn’t work in my favor whatsoever,” Ellie mentions.
Later during dinner, Mahisha complains to Jono about the caviar, and then another guest complains about being given a butter knife for cutting through a fish. Aesha calmly replies that it is a fish knife as the fish is not supposed to be tough. The guests begin to berate the crew members for their service and attitude, but Aesha exclaims she wouldn't let guests treat her badly on purpose.
The next day, Captain Sandy takes over the bar and chats with the guests. Meanwhile, the retired NBA Player, Mike, compliments her staff. Sandy backs her crew and explains that after all the crew members are humans who are doing their jobs. She also mentions a previous incident where she sent the primary back for berating her crew:
“I always say this, if you beat character down, you’re gonna kill their spirit. But if you’re gracious and you’re thankful, you’re gonna build them up and they’re gonna want to do more for you. I had a client spend a million Euros on a charter. They were so rude to my crew. I pulled the primary in, and I said, ‘I’ll cancel your charter tomorrow if you treat my staff like that again."
The drama between Joe and the stews continues in Below Deck Mediterranean as he poses with Ellie for a photograph and instantly regrets it, blaming alcohol for his behavior. Just when the guests are about to leave, they call Ellie and Joe "lovebirds" which prompts Ellie to ask Joe on a date. He later goes to Ellie's cabin and declares that he is feeling a lot of pressure and doesn't want to go on a date.
Captain Sandy also gets some bad news from home as her dog, Bailey, dies. Tearfully, Sandy confesses that being a captain is tough as a lot of people have left her while she was on board the ship. She related the incident to losing her parents as well.
