Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 saw Captain Sandy navigate the Mustique crew. With the new cast members, boatmances, and the experience of providing for the guests on time, Captain Sandy faced problems in helping her crew adjust to the multiple challenges.

Episode 12 was one of the most important episodes this season which highlighted the drama between the crew and a weather storm situation that alerted everyone. Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode 12 titled The Perfect Storm aired exclusively on Bravo TV on August 19, 2024.

Here's the official synopsis of the episode:

"The boat faces a catastrophic storm that exposes a major leak, putting the deck crew on high alert; tensions rise as the stews voice their frustrations over a deckhand; the interior crew's plans are thwarted, leading to chaos and challenges onboard."

What happened on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode 12?

On Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode 12, Captain Sandy expressed her concerns linked to the harsh weather conditions. She and bosun Iain Maclean looked into the situation which looked critical as there was a leak found in the cabin. Sandy had to think of a solution right away and get everything under control. She said:

"We have another leak in the forward cabin. This is not good."

Later in the episode, Sandy explained to the cameras why the situation could have potentially turned south quickly. She said the yacht journey during a thunderstorm was difficult due to the possibility that it could "sink the boat." The water waves were high as the Mustique crew decided what their next step would be. Sandy further stated:

"When you take on this much water, it could sink the boat. We can't go to sea if we're taking on water; that will end our season."

Just like in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode 6, the crew was able to control the situation by figuring out the reason behind the leak and trying to prevent it.

Next up was the love triangle boatmance drama between Elena "Ellie" Dubaich, Bri Muller, and Joe Bradley, which was addressed in this episode. Ellie seemingly asked Joe out on a date to which he initially said yes but later declined. This confused Ellie who just wanted to have a few drinks with him and get an opportunity to get to know each other better.

Later in the episode, the Below Deck Mediterranean cast member Joe told Nathan Gallagher the reason behind his sudden change of heart. According to Joe, this planned date with Ellie would've been his first which seemed "really serious." As Joe was only looking for a summer fling without the involvement of any feelings, he clarified he was not looking for a relationship.

Joe continued:

"I've never been asked on a date before. This I think is like really serious and I'm just flapping out if I'm honest. For me, I don't want anything serious and stuff like that. Dating for me is like, up there, and I'm not ready."

Ellie, on the other hand, was confused by this response as she wasn't looking for anything serious either.

Stream Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 exclusively on Bravo TV every week on Mondays at 9/8c. The upcoming episode 13 titled Chef Woes and Cabin Blows is set to air on Monday, August 26, 2024.
