Titled Happily Ever After the synopsis for the episode reads:
"The crew bands together to ensure Capt. Sandy's proposal goes off without a hitch, but unexpected challenges arise; a new romance sparks on the final crew night out."
Five takeaways from Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 finale
1) Aesha confronts Ellie
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 finale started with a Greek togas and sandal party. While the guests were donning their Greek outfits, Aesha confronted Ellie on her behavior as a second stew. She told her that the second stew's role is to delegate tasks when the chief is not around. However, Ellie used to delegate her tasks even when Aesha was around.
Ellie acted innocent and responded that she didn't mean to be like that and it wasn't her intention. The chief stew wasn't satisfied by her reply and said in her confessional:
"I feel like Ellie's gaslighting me in a way. Like she's standing there acting like she's so unaware".
Ellie, however, felt that her hard work wasn't acknowledged by Aesha, and she always had problems with whatever she did.
2) Captain Sandy proposed to her girlfriend Leah
Captain Sandy had plans to propose to her girlfriend, Leah in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 finale. She texted Leah directions and the time her crew would get back. Leah was unaware of the proposal plans and thought that she and Captain Sandy were going on a European vacation.
After the togas party, Aesha told Joe and Gael they needed to help plan Captain Sandy's proposal. Aesha took charge as the organizer. Once the boat docked, Captain Sandy rushed to meet her girlfriend. Joe took them by tender to an island, where the proposal decorations were set up for a sunset proposal.
They had to face a major roadblock when Joe got the boat stuck in two ropes. They managed to cut the ropes and reach the destination on time. Captain Sandy proposed to Leah in front of a gathered crowd and the couple got engaged after Leah said Yes.
3) Ellie expresses her resentment
Ellie was not happy with the fact that Aesha did not include her in the proposal planning. She felt "down" and said:
“Aesha didn’t pick me to participate in Captain Sandy’s engagement, which would have been such an honour for me. I feel like all this work I’ve done this entire freaking season is for nothing.”
Ellie once again brought up the matter when the rest of the crew was heading to the proposed location. The second stew expressed her resentment and said:
“I’ve been crushing it this entire season, and then [Aesha’s] like, ‘All right, great. Carrie’s here. Now f*ck off to the pantry. Go do dishes’ … She was hired … to help us out, not come here and replace us.”
4) Things heat up between Joe and Carrie
After the proposal in the finale episode of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, the crew went for a dinner party. Things heated up between Joe and Carrie as they got close. Joe decided to take things to a more intimate level. However, he had too much to drink and had no energy left once they got back on the boat.
5) Below Deck Mediterranean crew bid farewell
The next morning, Captain Sandy asked Aesha to wake up the crew. After nine weeks of living and working together, the crew bid farewell. Aesha had a brief conversation with Ellie where she appreciated the second stew for her hard work. Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 episode ended with a glimpse of Captain Sandy and Leah's wedding.
