Bravo’s hit series Below Deck Sailing Yacht continues to showcase the drama and challenges of life aboard a luxury sailing yacht in its fifth season.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht episode 14, aired on Monday, January 13, brought plenty of tension as the crew dealt with professional complications and personal conflicts. While the guests enjoyed the luxury experience, the crew faced a series of mishaps, from a mistake by deckhand Chase to ongoing issues with food service in the galley.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht episode, titled 'Rules of En-rage-ment,' centered on the arrival of a group of drag queen charter guests. However, the crew faced mounting pressure, with kitchen delays and a notable mistake by Chase creating friction among the team.

Amidst the chaos, Chief Stew Daisy struggled to maintain order while tensions between deckhands Gary and Chase escalated. The episode also highlighted the personal struggles of the crew, including Gary’s rule-breaking behavior, which disappointed Captain Glenn.

Recap of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 episode 14

In episode 14, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew prepared for a lively group of drag queen charter guests. The evening’s dinner service began with delays as Chef Cloyce faced challenges in the galley.

While attempting to smoke filets, the smoker malfunctioned, leaving guests waiting for their meals. Eventually, Cloyce managed to present a pan-seared filet with peach and hickory smoke, which received mixed reviews. One guest, Lola LeCroix, remarked, “Oh, it was worth the wait. It’s delicious.”

Meanwhile, tensions between deckhands Gary and Chase flared up once again. During anchor watch, Chase accidentally dropped a shackle into the water after Gary repeatedly instructed him to secure it with a cable tie. Gary’s frustration was immediate as he yelled, “You’re a f**king idiot,” while Chase apologized, acknowledging in a confessional,

“Yeah, I dropped a shackle in the water. I make mistakes. I’m human.”

The lost shackle temporarily rendered the tender unusable until Gary found a spare in the storage compartment. Before handing it over, Gary warned Chase,

“Whatever you do, do not lose this shackle. It’s our last shackle.”

The evening brought more drama when the male crew members of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, including Captain Glenn, performed a drag show for the guests. The crew later accompanied the charter guests ashore for a night at a club. Captain Glenn laid out clear rules for the crew, including a two-drink limit and a 2 am return to the yacht, warning,

“Anybody forfeiting the rules tonight will be forfeiting their share of the tip.”

Despite this, Gary ignored the mandate and had ten drinks, while Daisy and Keith each exceeded the limit with four drinks. Gary’s intoxicated behavior frustrated his teammates, with Chase attempting to remind him of the captain’s rules. Gary responded sharply, telling Chase,

“Shut up … I’m going to get sh*tfaced. Two drinks for me is like nothing.”

When the group returned to the yacht at 2 am, Captain Glenn immediately noticed Gary’s condition and expressed disappointment. In a confessional, Glenn stated,

“For him to disappoint me in this way doesn’t make any sense. I don’t understand it … Gary knows better than this.”

The professional strain extended beyond Gary’s actions. Chief Stew Daisy decided to withhold Diana and Danni from the club outing, instructing them to rest instead. This decision led to complaints, with Danni comparing herself to Cinderella, saying in a confessional,

“Because I am Cinderella, and Daisy is my evil stepmother, this bitch will prevent me from going to the ball.”

Diana also accused Daisy of favoritism, claiming the decision was made to punish Danni. By the end of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht episode, Gary’s continued rule-breaking and disruptive behavior left Daisy questioning her future. Reflecting on Gary’s pattern of self-destructive actions, she commented in a confessional,

“I want to believe that Gary wants to change. Then he spirals again. He’s just so self-destructive. It’s incredibly painful to watch. And to be honest, Gary’s just not what I want for my future. He’s just not growing up.”
