What happened on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 episode 2?

On Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 episode 2, Gary was returning back while driving the tender but as it was already dark, he couldn't see clearly and the boat crashed. Gary wanted to immediately inform Captain about this after he returned to Parsifal III.

"I've driven around here hundreds of thousands of times. Not cool. Glenn's not going to be happy," Gary said.

When Glenn assessed the tender, he was glad that not much damage had been done however he had concerns about the engine. Revealing that the tender costs almost 200,000 American dollars, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht captain shared that the engine was still at risk despite the tender not budging, he continued stating:

"If the tender's got a hole in it, it won't sink because it's an inflatable tender, but it could submerge that engine and then we're buying a new one. And that tender is about 180 thousand euros."

Later in the episode, Captain Glenn asked deckhand Emma Crouch to give him an update on whether the engine was working or not. He asked for a video to get an idea of how much damage had been done and whether they would have to change the engine, he said:

"Did you have a look last night? How do you know how bad it is? Dude, I want to figure this out. First of all, I want to get a video of all the damage: scratches, dings, dents, whatever. So let's get some video of it first.

Later in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 episode 2 confessional interview, Captain Glenn shared that the damage was only surface level but this is not how he expected the new season to start, the damage on the tender however might be dangerous in the future.

"It looks like, luckily, this damage is cosmetic, so it's not something that's going to impact the performance of the tender. What we do can be very dangerous," he continued.

Fans can stream Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 exclusively on Bravo TV every week on Mondays, at 9/8c and the next day on Peacock TV. The upcoming episode 3 will be released on October 21, 2024.
