Big Brother is a reality TV show in which contestants live in a house under 24/7 surveillance. While there, they battle one another in different challenges and try to make alliances that will advance them in the game to avoid being evicted and to bag the grand prize.
The show has seen iconic alliances like The Brigade from Season 12, Chilltown from Season 2, and The Hitmen from Season 16, which dominated their respective seasons with strategic gameplay.
Alliances help a player find safety and navigate through the game, although not all bring successful results. Sometimes, alliances like FOUTTE from Season 20 or Gr8ful from Season 21 end up falling apart due to drama between them, bad strategy, or a lack of consensus among themselves.
5 worst Big Brother alliances
1. FOUTTE (Season 20)
FOUTTE, an alliance formed in Season 20, quickly unraveled. Formed early in the game, it faced significant issues from the start. In episode 5, Kaitlyn Herman backdoored Swaggy C with a crucial HoH win, and in episode 8, Fessy Shafaat sent Scottie Salton out the door.
These internal arguments and bad decision-making on eviction nominees tore the alliance apart and paved the way for their fall whenever Level Six, another alliance in the season, came into power.
2. The Bomb Squad (Season 16)
The Bomb Squad, established in season 16, became riddled with internal strife and bad strategy. The alliance group, with nine members, became unwieldy when they needed to coordinate.
Devin Shepherd's decision to put his ally Zach Rance on the block in Episode 4 led to his eviction the following week in Episode 6. Their inability to stick together led to their very quick end.
3. The Exterminators (Season 15)
The Exterminators in season 15 had some success in evicting rivals but lost the grip of being an effective team. Their downfall began when the group's internal issues and controversies, including problematic behavior from some members, became more pronounced.
Notable actions included targeting Amanda Zuckerman and McCrae Olson. Their controversial behavior arose from problematic remarks by members like Andy Herren, GinaMarie Zimmerman, and Spencer Clawson, undermining their strategy and diminishing their impact.
4. The Spy Girls (Season 18)
The Spy Girls, Natalie Negrotti, Bronte D'Acquisto, and Bridgette Dunning, were an alliance in Season 18 looking to crown a female winner. They were heavily edited into the season's proceedings during the first half but never really made any headway. Their "lay low" strategy didn't influence the game, and they were mostly on the sidelines by Episode 11, making minimal to no impact at all.
5. Gr8ful (Season 21)
Gr8ful was a problematic alliance from the start. It had six members: Jackson Michie, Jack Matthews, Nick Maccarone, Bella Wang, Holly Allen, and Analyse Talavera. The major reason that led to their downfall was controversial behavior from members, especially Matthews and Michie, and internal conflicts.
The fallout from this began to be signaled in episodes 7 and 9. So, although Michie ended up winning the show, the alliance already ended due to several internal strifes.
These alliances illustrate how internal strife, poor strategy, and lack of unity can lead to failure in Big Brother. Each faced distinct challenges that ultimately led to their disbandment, offering insights into the complexities of alliance dynamics in the game.
