In Big Brother season 26 episode 23, Quinn Martin's reign as Head of Household (HOH) was highlighted when he nominated Angela Murray, Rubina Bernabe, and Kimo Apaka for eviction. His main target was Angela, but with the Power of Veto competition coming up, there was still time for things to change in the house.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, fans witnessed intense rivalry, strategic moves, and drama. Finally, Leah Peters secured the Power of Veto and made the bold decision to withdraw Angela from the race, forcing Quinn to nominate Joseph Rodriguez in her stead.
Big Brother season 26 maintains the traditional structure of players living together in a limited house and competing in various challenges to avoid eviction. Every week, one houseguest is eliminated until a winner is announced. With only 10 contenders remaining, the stakes are higher than ever.

Quinn's nomination and strategy
At the start of episode 23, Quinn targeted Angela for eviction, using Rubina and Kimo as pawns. During the nomination ceremony, explaining his motivation for eliminating her, Quinn said:
"I don't want Angela carried to the end of the game at my expense."
He added that Rubina and Kimo were chosen because of their strong relationship with Tucker Des Lauriers, who was removed the previous week. Quinn went on to explain that his intention was for the nominations to remain unchanged, barring him from naming a replacement nominee. He said in a private chat:
"I want this week to go smoothly, with no surprises."
Angela, feeling personally attacked by Quinn's decision, reflected on her gameplay. Recognizing the tension between herself and Quinn, she said:
"I take full responsibility for my big mouth."
Tensions rise as the Veto approaches in Big Brother
Throughout the episode in Big Brother, the other houseguests were well aware of the importance of the veto competition. Chelsie Baham, a strong contender, hinted that she wanted T'Kor Clottey to be nominated instead of Angela.
"Just to scare her a little bit," Chelsie said.
Meanwhile, T'Kor voiced her anxiety that Quinn might target her after Kimo, fearing another situation. Unaware of Chelsie's desire to see her on the block, she admitted:
"I'm worried that Quinn might make a move against me next."
As the competition drew closer, Joseph Rodriguez confessed his feelings for Leah Peters in a diary room session, telling her:
"You’re one of my favorite people I’ve ever met, and I care about you a lot."
However, Leah made it clear in her own diary room session that she had "friend-zoned" him, much like she had done with Quinn earlier in the game.
Power of Veto competition results in Big Brother
In the "Bot Builders" competition, the houseguests had to create a robot in total darkness. Six participants took part, including Angela, Quinn, Joseph, Leah, Rubina, and Kimo. Rubina made the first attempt, however it was inaccurate, with just 9 of 11 elements in the proper locations.
Quinn had similar worries, and after repeated attempts, it was Leah who eventually obtained the Power of Veto. Leah's triumph was her first competitive victory of the season, putting her in a critical position.
Leah was scared to use the veto since it might risk her connections with Quinn and Angela. In a talk with Quinn, she expressed her anxieties by saying:
"It would suck for me if Angela goes because she's a solid number in my corner."
Quinn, on the other hand, highlighted that Angela's removal was critical to his long-term strategy. Hoping Leah would keep the nominations the same, he explained:
"If Angela makes it to the end, she will be tough to beat."
Leah’s decision and its aftermath
Despite Quinn's appeal, Leah used her veto to remove Angela from the block. During the veto meeting, Leah explained:
"I had to use the power in the way that I wanted to use it, not the way he wanted me to."
Her choice surprised the house, as many expected her to keep the nominations unaltered. Quinn, forced to name a substitute nominee, selected Joseph as the third candidate. He rationalized his decision by saying:
"Because T'Kor didn't get an opportunity to vote last week, Joseph is the only option I have."
Joseph, visibly angered by the nomination, promised in the diary room that if given the chance, he would seek vengeance. He said:
"If I win HOH, Quinn better watch out."
Potential shifts in alliances
Leah's choice to utilize the veto not only saved Angela but also cemented their friendship going forward. Angela conveyed her gratitude to Leah, anticipating that the two could collaborate closely in the coming weeks. Implying that she felt more secure in the game, Angela said:
"I think Leah is protecting me."
Meanwhile, Quinn's nomination of Joseph may cause ripples throughout the house, since Joseph had been a close ally to several of the remaining houseguests.
His nomination may cause alliance shifts in the Big Brother house, especially because Joseph had already linked himself with Quinn. Implying a possible betrayal within their alliance, Quinn acknowledged:
"Joseph was supposed to be someone I could rely on, but now I'm not sure."
