CBS premiered Big Brother season 26 on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The much-awaited reality show introduced 16 contestants in the first two episodes. According to the show's format, it features various challenges, tasks, and nominations followed by eliminations. So far, Matt Hardeman has been eliminated from the show, becoming the first housemate to be sent home.
The housemates are engaged in a nomination process, mostly influenced by the Head of the House’s (HOH) decision on the show. Later, one, or sometimes dual, eliminations are carried out based on the voting procedure. During the first week of season 26, Matt was eliminated after he was nominated alongside Kenney Kelley and Kimo Apaka.
Week 1 nominations and eviction: Big Brother season 2
During the show's third episode, the BB season 26 AI, Aisnley informed the housemates about essential procedures. One of them was choosing the HoH— Head of the House— who would receive special powers and safety. She also told the housemates that there would be three nominations every week, and one of them would be going home.
For the first week, housemate Angela acquired the Head of the House position and later nominated Kimo, Kenney, and Lisa. However, Lisa used a special power called Veto, and as a result, Angela replaced Lisa’s nomination with Matt. So the final nominees for the first week of Big Brother season 26 were Kimo, Kenney, and Matt.
Big Brother season 26 episode 5 featured a challenge, “Glitch in the System,” and carried out the elimination process. The nominated housemates were shown 16 videos containing their fellow housemates, and tasked with finding out which of the housemates was seen the most throughout the videos. While Kimo managed to answer correctly, Kenney and Matt took more time, resulting in Kimo’s win.
Later, there was a vote between Matt and Kenney, which was 8-3, resulting in Matt’s eviction with the majority of votes against him.
Remaining housemates on Big Brother house, after Matt’s eviction are Makensy Manbeck, Angela Murray, Brooklyn Rivera, Cam Sullivan-Brown, Cedric Hodges, Chelsie Baham, Joseph Rodriguez, Kenney Kelley, Kimo Apaka, Leah Peters, Lisa Weintraub, Quinn Martin, Rubina Bernabe, T'kor Clottey, and Tucker Des Lauriers.
