As of Week 3 of Big Brother season 26, three housemates have been evicted. The latest eviction took place on Thursday night, August 8, when Kenney Kelley was sent packing. This eviction came after a tense week with Cedric Hodges as Head of Household, where he made strategic moves that left the house reeling.
In a bad position, Kenney now found himself on the block with Tucker Des Lauriers and Quinn Martin, and after all the drama and power plays, he ended up being evicted 10-1.
Big Brother week 3 evictee
Kenney Kelley, a 52-year-old former police officer from Boston, became the third contestant to leave the Big Brother house. His eviction followed a dramatic week where the Veto ceremony, led by Tucker Des Lauriers, significantly shifted the dynamics. Tucker, who had the Power of Veto, initially planned to save another nominee but ultimately used it to secure his safety.
This decision led to Quinn Martin being placed on the block as a replacement nominee, alongside Kenney Kelley and Tucker himself.
Veto ceremony and strategic moves
The tension was increased even more by the win from Tucker for safety in the BB AI Arena, which took him out of eviction risk. Now, there were final nominees—Kenney and Quinn—and the vote to be made by the remaining houseguests would decide who would be evicted.
A very strong vote came in to evict Kenney, but not quite unanimous, as Tucker wanted to see Quinn evicted. With his exit, Kenney became a big target to leave early in the game, having been a strong player with deep connections in the house.
Kenney Kelley's personal struggles in the house
In some ways, Kenney's eviction had as much to do with personal struggles he held within the house as it did with pure gameplay. Though being an ultra-fan of the show and applying for years, the emotional toll from this game became more difficult than what Kenney himself had expected to face. In his exit interview, he expressed relief:
"I'm very relieved. I grossly underestimated the emotions of the game."
He referred to emotional baggage from being away from family, and children, most importantly, influenced how he played the game. Kenney also shared that being on the block with Matt Hardeman in that first week was a bit of a turning point for him.
"Being on the block with Matt the first week, I kind of had a bond with him. His father was a police officer. I felt comfortable with him. He was getting me through a lot of the bad days, but once he was gone, it was kind of tough."
Kenney and Matt's shared backgrounds in law enforcement provided the retired police officer some comfort during his time in the house. However, as time passed, Kenney found it increasingly difficult to navigate the social dynamics of the game without Matt. He stated:
"I wasn't comfortable lying about who I was. I'm super proud of being a police officer and the things that I've done in my community. I thought I could come out here and manipulate people, but to do that for my own personal gain was difficult."
