Big Brother, a reality show phenomenon, continues to captivate audiences with its competitive drama and strategic gameplay. Season 26 of the CBS show is no different, with contestants living together in isolation, continuously monitored by cameras. They compete in various challenges, and one or more houseguests are evicted every week until one remains to claim the grand prize.

In episode 27 that aired on September 12, 2024, tensions peaked as another elimination loomed. Heading into this episode, Kimo Apaka and Quinn Martin were nominated for eviction. By the end of the evening, Quinn Martin was evicted by a 4-2 vote, becoming the first member of the jury.

Quinn Martin's Big Brother journey

Eviction day

In episode 27, the Power of Veto (PoV) ceremony was pivotal. Makensy Manbeck won the "Otev" competition (On The Veto memory challenge) and decided to use her veto power to remove Angela Murray from the block. This allowed the Head of Household (HoH), Chelsie Baham, to nominate Quinn Martin as Angela's replacement, setting Quinn and Kimo Apaka as targets for eviction.

Chelsie's decision to nominate Quinn was strategic, aiming to shift the house dynamics. Kimo felt some relief as Quinn was considered a bigger threat. By targeting Quinn, Chelsie sought to align with Leah Peters, Rubina Bernabe, and T'Kor Clottey, who prioritized eliminating stronger competitors to protect their alliance.

Quinn tried to secure votes from Leah, Cam, and Makensy. He hoped for a tie, with Chelsie breaking it in his favor. Despite his efforts to be a valuable ally, the votes fell 4-2 against him: T'Kor, Rubina, Makensy, and Cam voted to evict Quinn, while Leah and Angela voted to evict Kimo. In the end, Quinn Martin was eliminated and became the first jury member on Big Brother.

Quinn Martin's background and achievements

Quinn Martin, a 25-year-old nurse recruiter, has a diverse background. According to CBS press release, he pursued higher education at Doane University in Nebraska, two states away from his hometown of Lawton, Oklahoma. Quinn graduated in 2021 with a BA in Business Administration from Doane, the oldest private university in Nebraska, established in 1872.

During his time at Doane, Quinn played college soccer and participated in indoor track. He was also a member of the Alpha Pi Epsilon Fraternity that helped in developing positive community members and strong brotherhood bonds. Additionally, Quinn held the position of Vice President of the Student Congress Executive Board.

Before his career as a nurse recruiter, Quinn worked as a lifeguard in 2017 at the Fort Sill Army base in Lawton, OK. He also worked as a Business Development Representative at the software company Buildertrend from 2022 to 2023.

Game challenges and competitions

Quinn’s journey in Big Brother began on day 1, alongside seven other houseguests: Angela, Cam, Chelsie, Joseph, Kimo, Makensy, Rubina, and Tucker. They entered the newly designed house, where Julie informed them of a crucial vote to decide if a 17th houseguest, Ainsley, should join the competition.

In later competitions in Big Brother, Quinn secured an upgrade and avoided downgrades. He also formed alliances, including “The Pentagon” and “The Visionaries,” which influenced his game strategies. Despite his tactical efforts, Quinn's gameplay ultimately led to his eviction in episode 27 of Big Brother.

Quinn's exit interview and reflections

After his eviction from the Big Brother house, Quinn gave an exit interview with Jerry O'Connell, who temporarily hosted the episode while Julie Chen Moonves recovered from an illness. During the interview, Quinn stated that he harbored no ill feelings toward the houseguests who voted him out.

He shared that he had broken trust early in the game and acknowledged that his lies and gameplay might have contributed to his eviction. He said:

“I was siphoning information from the Pentagon, the Visionaries, Joseph and my word didn’t mean much in there. I was a liar.”

Quinn also mentioned that he did not feel betrayed by Makensy and Cam’s decision, though he believed their move to be less optimal as it left the trio (T’kor, Kimo and Rubina) in the game. Reflecting on his time in the house, Quinn described it as a dream come true as he had always been a fan of the show.
