The first week of Big Brother season 26 was dramatic and viewers were shocked at the number of plot twists, new alliances, and ulterior motives in the game. Episode 5 featured an AI Arena competition coemption in which three nominees had to compete for the right answers.

Out of the three nominees, the winner would be saved from elimination. Meanwhile, the remaining two house guests would have to gather the majority of votes to stay in the house.

After it was revealed that Kenney Kelley, Kimo Apaka, and Matt Hardeman were competing in the AI Arena, they started to build alliances to confirm they would get enough votes to stay in the house.

Unfortunately, Matt couldn't convince his fellow cast members to save him from eviction despite thinking most of them liked him, which wasn't the case. Matt's strategic planning was visible, and many viewed him as a threat in the competition. As a result, he was unable to secure enough votes, and Matt was eliminated.

Big Brother season 26 episode 5 was released exclusively on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Thursday, July 25, 2024. The official synopsis reads:

"Following a live vote, a houseguest is evicted and interviewed; remaining houseguests compete for power in the next head of household."

Matt Hardeman was voted out of the Big Brother house in season 26 episode 5

Big Brother house guest Angela Murray was against Matt as she was upset at how he disclosed other alliances, and considered him her main target. Matt, on the other hand, was sure he was going to stay in the house through votes or by winning the AI Arena competition.

He even allied with eight people called 'The Barbershop' aka BS. However, those people weren't confident that they wanted to protect Matt from eviction.

In the AI arena, the three nominees had to guess which house guests appeared in the images the most, in a series of pictures visible on the screen for a split second. In this 'Glitch in the System' game, Kimo was declared the winner. This meant that Matt and Kenney were left for the first Big Brother season 26 house eviction.

The Big Brother contestants who voted for Matt included Kimo Apaka, T’kor Clottey, Brooklyn Rivera, Rubina Bernabe, Quinn Martin, Cam Sullivan-Brown, Tucker Des Lauriers, and Joseph Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, houseguests Lisa Weintraub, Makensy Manbeck, and Leah Peters voted for Kenney. Due to the majority of votes 8-3, Matt was sent home and his journey on the CBS show ended.

Before exiting from the show, Matt said he had forgiven Angela and expressed that he was glad he got to experience being on the CBS show. Cast members who are still competing for the grand prize of $750,000 and the winner's title are mentioned below:
