Big Brother season 26 finale aired on CBS on October 13, 2024, and saw Chelsea Baham win the $750,000 prize. At the end of the finale, the host, Julie Chen Moonves, announced that the reality show would return for Big Brother Season 27.
She added that fans of the show can expect to see season 27 in the summer of 2025. However, a release date for season 27 has yet to be announced or confirmed. At the same time, casting for the new season is open, and fans can apply to be a part of Big Brother season 27.
The new season will follow BB 26, which featured 16 houseguests competing in the Big Brother house for the prize money. Every week, the contestants participated in various challenges, including the Head of Household (HoH) competition, the Power of Veto (PoV), the A.I. Arena, and the final voting.
Big Brother season 27 possible release date and schedule
After the release of the finale of Big Brother season 26, host Julie Chen Moonves announced that a new season could start airing in the summer of 2025.
"We will see you again next summer!" she said.
The announcement might also mean that the BB host would resume her position in the upcoming season. She has been hosting the show since it premiered in 2000. She makes an appearance on the show during the live eviction episode that airs on Thursdays. In the episode, she invites the evicted houseguest for an interview where they recount their journey and experience on the show.
The reality show usually starts airing between the last week of June and the middle of July. The recent season premiered on July 17, and if the previous seasons' schedule is followed, viewers can expect season 27 around the same date.
Season 26 ran for over 90 days, while season 25 lasted 100 days, and season 24 spanned 82 days. Based on this trend, the 2025 season is expected to last between 80 and 90 days.
The weekly release schedule is likely to follow the pattern of previous seasons, with three episodes released weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Episodes typically premiere between 8 pm and 10 pm ET, with the most recent season airing at 9 pm ET on CBS.
Season 27 is open for casting
As mentioned earlier, fans of the show can apply to be on the next season of the reality show. Big Brother opened its casting for the upcoming season and it has been open since before the finale of season 26. Interested people can check out the show's website, bigbrothercasting.tv, for details on how they can apply to be on the show.
The procedure to apply to be on the show includes watching a YouTube video by casting director Jesse Tennenbaum. In the video, Jesse provides tips to improve the applicants' odds in the casting process. The applicant then has to prepare a 2-3 minute video showcasing their personality and explaining why they want to be a part of the show.
Jesse explained in his video that he prefers contestants who give raw introductions without any script. He added that the contestants shouldn't use any beauty filters or accessories that would hide their faces.
With the audition video ready, the applicants would need to take a photo of themselves and then fill out the application form on their website. Before applying, they might need to ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements for the reality show, which are available on the website.
