The Blue Ribbon Baking Championship is one of the latest baking competitions currently streaming on Netflix. 10 bakers from all over the United States compete in the show. The show is hosted by Sandra Lee. Each contestant competed to win the cash prize of $100,000 and the prestigious blue ribbon.

Among all the talented 10 participants, Nathan Chandler, a native resident of Idaho and owner of Confections Bakery in Pocatello, was announced as the winner. With his good eye for design and his understanding of fusing flavors, Chandler impressed both the judges and the audience, ultimately securing his place as the champion.

Nathan spoke about his journey in the show, with the Idaho State Journal on August 2. He said,

"It’s a very intimidating situation walking into. It was very clear that everybody that was there knew what they were doing. The one thing that I would say I enjoyed the most out of that situation is everyone was so nice, I don’t want to say it wasn’t a competition because there was $100,000 on the line. "

He also mentioned how although everybody was there to compete, they were helpful to one another and this created a healthy atmosphere among the contestants.

Nathan Chandler: A Journey from Idaho state fair to National stardom in Blue Ribbon baking championship

Nathan Chandler's path to winning the Blue Ribbon Baking Championship was built with hard work and experience. Chandler was already a well-known baker in his home state after winning the Idaho State Fair, long before this Netflix show was created.

His success at the fair not only got him noticed, but it also gave him bigger opportunities, like being on Food Network's Christmas Cookie Challenge in 2019. Chandler got ready for the national stage by brushing up his skills in television competitions before.

At Confections Bakery in Pocatello, Chandler is known for his delicious cakes and cookies. Throughout the competition, Chandler consistently impressed with his innovative takes on classic fair treats. His journey from a local Idaho baker to the winner of a national championship is a story of perseverance, creativity, and passion for baking.

The challenges of the Blue Ribbon Baking Championship

The Blue Ribbon Baking Championship wasn't an easy competition to win. Contestants faced several challenges that tested not only their baking skills but also their ability to perform under pressure. In the first episode itself, bakers were tasked with creating a food item on a stick, a nod to classic fair food, within a specified time.

This challenge gave the contestants an idea of how the competition might toughen in the upcoming episodes. About the challenge, Judge Sandra Lee said,

"These bakers are great at what they do, and some are great at pies and at bars and cakes, but in the very first competition, we literally leveled the playing field and brought everyone down to their knees. There was no ego after that."

Chandler’s performance in the show was consistently good. His final creation, a show-stopping cake that beautifully combined his signature flavors and design elements, made him the winner and earned him the $100,000 prize.
