Tex Mex Motors season 2 introduced viewers to the crew of Borderline Customs who specialize in fixing vintage cars, repairing them to give a fresh new look. In return for fixing the cars, the team receives a huge paycheck. The crew's job is to also verify whether the vintage cars are knockoffs or authentic.

In episode 5, the freshly painted Mustang was declared to be an authentic Saleen by the maker Steve Saleen himself. Before departing, Steve told one of the cast members, Rabbit, that his friend from California was interested in buying the car for $75,000. At the same time, Rabbit was approached by a local guy, Leon, who is an "influential member of the El Pasco car scene."

Jamie suggested that signing a deal with the Californian guy would be a better bet. She explained:

"So we have a local sure thing and it's an instant 75,000 in our pocket. Or we can chance it that Steve Saleen's friend, who is a high roller in the California auto scene, comes out here, loves it, and takes it home to Cali, which would spread our name and cred all over the West Coast market. And that path can give us long-term success."

Tex Mex Motors season 2 episode 5, titled You Got a NASCAR, was released exclusively on Netflix on November 22, 2024. The episode synopsis reads:

"The shop works overtime to prepare the Mustang for Steve Saleen's arrival. Wes is pumped to work on a Monte Carlo with an elite racing history."

Jamie's recommendation on Tex Mex Motors season 2 episode 5

On Tex Mex Motors season 2 episode 5, Rabbit told the cameras that he got two offers for the Mustang verified by Steve Saleen himself. One was from a local guy, Leon, and another from Steve Saleen's friend.

Rabbit called Leon to inform him about his finding as Leon had been looking for an authentic Saleen for quite some time. When Rabbit asked him if he was ready to pay $75,000 for the car, Leon agreed.

However, before making a decision, he told Jamie:

"So, you know Steve said that he's got a friend that would love to buy that '86. We also have a local guy that wants to buy it. Full asking. It'd be a nice car, no matter where you take it. But I think bang for the buck, far as showing it off and proud of it, our local guy's probably gonna do the best job."

The Tex Mex Motors star Jamie disagreed that the local guy would bring publicity to their name. She stated that Steve's friend would do a better job at spreading the word about Boderland Customs in California which will be good for their brand. Jamie said:

"Steve's guy, the car will go out of the area. Our work will be shown out of the area."

Rabbit, on the other hand, stated that Steve's friend might not like it, but Leon's interest in the car was guaranteed. He admitted that he would have to "burn a bridge one way on another" and wanted to decide who to choose to confirm a deal with.
