Love is Blind, the dating reality TV series, has introduced contestants who are willing to find their one true love by forming a strong connection with a potential partner in the pods. On season 5 of the dating show, Renee Poche appeared as one of the cast members.

In a conversation with Deadline on December 12, 2024, Love is Blind alum Renee Poche and her lawyers addressed the $4 million lawsuit against Netflix regarding the alleged treatment of contestants on set and the involvement of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The complaint was filed on December 11, 2024, against the hit Netflix series Love is Blind producers Kinetic Content and Delirium TV. She said:

"I’m very excited. It’s finally like someone’s really listening that can make a huge impact, Besides, of course, the lawyers and everyone that’s helped me to this point, I am also excited that it’s not just for me personally in my specific case, but the industry as a whole. It’s amazing, really, for all of us."

Since then, Poche has openly discussed the behind-the-scenes, work environment, non-disclosure agreements, and payscale of reality TV stars.

Love is Blind alum Renee Poche discusses NLRB's involvement after the lawsuit

Renee Poche is fighting for a $4 million lawsuit with the producers of the hit Netflix reality TV series Love is Blind. Now that the National Labor Relations Board has been involved in getting contestants to be considered employees, it has changed the dynamic of the lawsuit.

In her interview, Poche reflected on the work environment, pay scale, and conditions in which reality TV contestants usually film. Her lawyers, Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos, joined her conversation with Deadline. Freedman stated that the "30 violations" in contracts were found by NLRB, which were not just happening at Netflix but "throughout the (reality TV) industry."

Additionally, Love is Blind alum Poche was restricted from working elsewhere as part of the contract. Freedman explained:

"Yes. They couldn’t be on podcasts, they couldn’t interview anywhere else, they couldn’t make money and take another job in the media at all within a year of being on the show."

The Love is Blind alum also talked about the effects of being part of a $4 million lawsuit and how it impacted her stream of work. She shared that she understood the perspective of other productions unwilling to be on "the bad side of Netflix." Poche continued:

"Everyone now is scared of me, to work with me. I don’t blame them, from a production standpoint, because they don’t want to get involved or be on the bad side of Netflix. I get that. "

Poche shared that she was glad to finally speak freely about this matter regardless of being "scared" initially. She mentioned companies facing strikes with "real actors and actresses." Poche implied that the same might happen within the reality TV industry, and the companies will have to address this matter sooner or later. Towards the end of the interview, Poche said:

"But, I mean, just to be able to finally say stuff …I actually am still scared of them, and I really haven’t talked with many people about it, but I just want to be free and clear to actually finally talk."

All seasons of Love is Blind are available to stream on Netflix.
