The third episode of Southern Hospitality season 3, titled Wylin at Lake Wylie, aired on Thursday, January 16, 2024, on Bravo. As a spin-off of Southern Charm, the series follows Leva Bonaparte’s Republic Garden & Lounge staff as they navigate professional and personal challenges in Charleston.

The latest episode shed light on ongoing workplace tensions, evolving dynamics among the cast, and deeper personal revelations. One of the most significant moments of the episode centered around Madison discussing Joe's unresolved rift with TJ.

“Joe talks to me all the time about the rift between him and TJ. And it's causing him anxiety,” Madison shared in her confessional.

She expressed her belief that both Joe and TJ miss their friendship but are struggling to address past issues. The episode also featured Emmy’s attempt to move past her workplace meltdown and the group traveling to Lake Wylie to celebrate Lake’s birthday.

Southern Hospitality: Tension between Joe and TJ

A major focus of the episode was the strained relationship between Joe and TJ, stemming from an incident three years ago. TJ admitted in his confessional that his fallout with Joe was not just about their disagreements but also about a deeper emotional connection.

“It’s a complicated situation. I think you should ask Joe,”TJ said when asked about their past.

Joe, on the other hand, explained his perspective, recalling an incident where he slept in TJ’s bed while intoxicated.

“Maybe I’m used to sleeping in a bed with a girl, and I was blacked out. I’m a cuddler. And I’d maybe grab you like I would grab the girl I was hooking up with at the time,” Joe revealed in his confessional.

TJ admitted that this moment led him to develop feelings for Joe, adding that he believed Joe was aware of his emotions. He also revealed that he felt Joe had sent mixed signals in the past and used his feelings to maintain control of their friendship.

TJ’s frustration extended beyond this incident, as he revealed the pain caused by Joe sharing “nasty messages” and refusing to take accountability.

“One of the big reasons I haven’t spoken with Joe is because I think he never really has to take accountability for stuff. And never has,” TJ told Madison.

Despite feeling hurt, TJ acknowledged his regret over breaking Joe’s trust by sharing private information about him with Luann. Madison urged both TJ and Joe to move past their resentment, emphasizing the unhealthy impact of holding onto grudges. She said,

“I just want you guys to both move on from this resentment because having it is just not healthy."

Recap of Southern Hospitality season 3, episode 3

The Southern Hospitality episode opened with Emmy addressing the fallout from her workplace meltdown in the previous week’s episode. Siobhan had accused Emmy of misusing store credit, sparking a heated confrontation. While Emmy apologized to Leva and promised not to repeat her behavior, she demanded an apology from Siobhan, further complicating the situation.

Michols revealed that Will, Emmy’s partner, had made negative remarks about her sobriety and physical appearance, which contributed to the tension. Despite this, Emmy maintained that her relationship with Will was fine, though her colleagues remained skeptical. Will later apologized to Emmy but avoided taking full responsibility for his actions.

Meanwhile, Madison and Joe discussed their relationship in Southern Hospitality after her parents raised questions about their future. Madison admitted feeling hesitant about marriage due to her focus on sobriety and lack of long-term plans.

However, she acknowledged she would accept a proposal from Joe to avoid embarrassing him. Joe, on the other hand, remained optimistic about their future and expressed his support for Madison’s dream of living at the beach.

As the Southern Hospitality episode progressed, Joe reflected on his time at a Christian camp, joking about his transformation from “Joey Bibles” to “Joey Bottles.” However, lighter moments were overshadowed by the tension between him and TJ, setting the stage for an intense confrontation in the episodes to come.
