Love is Blind UK season 1 gave the audience an overview into multiple relationships and whether they lasted in an environment outside of the pods. One of the couples whose connection was challenged in the real world was Nicole and Sam. Nicole said that was unsure about making a choice between Benaiah and Sam. After a lot of thinking, she said yes to Sam's proposal and got engaged to him. However, their energy shifted from when they first met, and couldn't feel the same spark they did in the pods.
According to Sam, they both weren't right for each other, he explained what went down between them off-camera in a conversation with Netflix's Tudum on August 26, 2024. He said that their connection wasn't the same as in the pods after their awkward encounter at the reveal. Sam also mentioned that the two gave their best and tried to make their relationship work off camera, he continued:
"We tried to make it work off-camera. Nicole came to stay at my place for a couple of days, and I knew ultimately it wasn't quite there. The connection was just off and I think she felt the same. But we were just super friendly."

Sam felt he and Nicole lost the Love is Blind UK pods spark
The Love is Blind UK star stated that he couldn't feel the "spark" even after they gave each other another chance to see if their connection could last in the real world. Sam shared that Nicole came over to his house and met his family as the two tried to reignite the bond they formed in the pods. However, the two soon realize they couldn't force themselves to continue the relationship. Sam explained:
"I was super respectful, but ultimately after two days of trying to see if it would work, it just wasn't there. There was just no spark. I couldn’t force it, nor could she. At the end of the day, at least we were honest with each other and we said, ‘Look, it's not happening.’"
Reflecting on what happened behind the scenes, Sam opened up about how the two conversed. The Love is Blind UK star said he was completely honest with Nicole and told her that he wasn't feeling the same bond they did in the pods.
Nicole also thought "something was wrong" in one of the episodes she considered it a "mistake" that she let Benaiah go. Sam mentioned that it was a mutual decision for both of them to take some time away from one another as it was a mentally and emotionally challenging time. He said:
"We both agreed that she would go home and we'd take a bit of time to digest everything. It was a lot emotionally and mentally."
Sam, who is a 31-year-old product design manager, also said that he was being considered a villain despite being honest about the situation. According to Sam, he was "misunderstood" by the viewers as well as his fellow Love is Blind UK cast members.
