Dancing With The Stars announced its highly anticipated season 33 on Instagram on July 10, 2024. The new season will premiere on September 17, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, Disney+ and Hulu apps. The show will see the return of hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Houghl.
The show will continue the traditional concept of pairing celebrities with professional dancers in pursuit of the prestigious Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy. Season 32 saw Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy win the coveted award with perfect scores in the two rounds of the finale.
The contestants will perform a variety of dance styles, ranging from the cha-cha and waltz to contemporary and freestyle, aiming to impress the judges and the audience.
Meet the Hosts of Dancing With The Stars
Alfonso Ribeiro
Alfonso Ribeiro, a name synonymous with Dancing With the Stars, is well known for his iconic role as Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. alongside the likes of Hollywood A-lister Will Smith.
Ribeiro has long been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, and his connection with Dancing With the Stars runs deep. He not only competed in the show but became a fan-favorite and was the season 19 champion. He was then given the opportunity to host the countrywide Dancing With The Stars tour.
Apart from his dancing accolades, Ribeiro has had a prolific career as an actor, director and TV host, most notably hosting America's Funniest Home Videos for the last six seasons.
Ribeiro started his career as a child actor on Broadway and has sustained it for over 40 years. His resume also boasts directing duties on shows like In the House, Shake It Up, Are We There Yet?, The Wannabes, Meet the Browns, Cuts, Eve, One on One and All of Us.
Julianne Hough
Joining Ribeiro as co-host for the second time will be Julianne Hough. Like Ribeiro, Hough is no stranger to the Dancing With the Stars stage, having won the Mirrorball Trophy twice as a professional dancer with a celebrity partner.
After her stint as a pro dancer, she appeared in the reality show and has now transitioned to a judging role. Beyond Dancing With the Stars, Hough is also known as an actress, singer and dancer, starring in films like Footloose and Rock of Ages. Her reality TV experience extends to being the judge of America's Got Talent season 14.
Hogh is also the founder of KINRGY, the trauma-informed dance fitness and energy healing modality and Canary House Productions. Hough is also the co-owner of Fresh Vine Wine, a low-calorie wine product.
The pairing of Ribeiro and Hough as co-hosts will be the second time fans of the show will see the duo on TV screens. Before the start of last season, the show parted ways with former runway model Tyra Banks, with Julianne coming in as the co-host alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.
Both hosts are experienced reality show alums and familiar faces for fans, bringing in much-needed relatability along with their dance expertise.
With the hosts set to dazzle fans worldwide, the only thing left is for the show to announce the list of contestants. The show has traditionally announced the cast two weeks before its premiere date on ABC's Good Morning America.
Season 33 of Dancing With The Stars will premiere the much anticipated season at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, on ABC and Disney+, and Hulu on September 18, 2024.
