The Traitors alum Ivan Brett commented on newcomer Yin after her elimination from the show. Despite his own short-lived stint on the series, Ivan felt compelled to share his thoughts on Yin's strategy. Ivan was eliminated in episode five of the first series after a dramatic round table where magician Tom Elderfield convinced the rest of the cast to vote him out.
He took to social media to express his disappointment in Yin's performance. He implied that she had failed to conceal her strengths, making her an easy target. Ivan felt that Yin had neglected to learn from his own experiences on the show.
Yin's elimination was a surprising twist, as she was the first contestant to be "murdered" by the Traitors in the 2025 series. Ivan drew parallels between Yin's fate and his own, noting that both had been misled by their fellow contestants. Despite his comments, Ivan confessed to feeling gutted for Yin, suggesting that he empathized with her disappointing exit.
“Oh Yin. Did you learn nothing from me? If you’ve a shred of qualification to do well in this game, HIDE IT. Feeling gutted for her,” stated Ivan.
The Traitors star Yin reveals that she indeed had a game plan for the reality show
The third series of The Traitors premiered on January 1, introducing a fresh group of contestants vying to outmaneuver each other for a substantial cash prize. However, according to media outlet The Sun, the competition got off to a rocky start, with three contestants eliminated before even reaching the castle.
Upon arrival, host Claudia Winkleman selected three contestants to become Traitors, tasked with secretly eliminating their competitors while concealing their true identities. The chosen Traitors were Armani, a 27-year-old financial investigator, Linda, a 70-year-old retired opera singer, and Minah, a 29-year-old call center manager.
In a joint decision, the three Traitors opted to eliminate Yin, who had been asking questions and raising suspicions among the group. Yin's inquisitive nature ultimately led to her downfall, as the Traitors deemed her a threat to their secretive operations. Following her elimination, Yin mentioned that she had indeed devised a strategy for the game.
Her plan involved meeting and gathering information about as many contestants as possible while also observing their behavior and interactions with others. Yin had carefully noted who was paying attention to her and who was avoiding her, using this information to inform her decisions.
She had also made a point to explore every room in the castle, identifying potential areas where private conversations might occur.
"I also went to every room in the castle and tried to observe private speaking areas. So my environment and the people were analysed, there were a couple of players who stood out immediately,” revealed Yin.
Through her observations, Yin had identified a few contestants who stood out to her, including Dan, with whom she had interacted on the train. Despite her planning, Yin ultimately fell victim to the Traitors' deception and was eliminated from the game. Her strategic approach had not been enough to save her from the Traitors' axe, and she became another faithful contestant to be eliminated.
Ivan debunks popular Last Faithful to Breakfast theory
Ivan also debunked the popular Last Faithful to Breakfast theory. This theory suggests that the last few contestants to arrive at breakfast following a murder are typically Faithfuls, implying that the Traitors had considered targeting them the previous night.
However, Ivan has pointed out the flaws in this theory on social media platform X. While it may have held some truth in season 1, there were exceptions. For instance, in episode 4, Amanda was the last to arrive at breakfast, yet no murder occurred that night. Instead, the Traitors used the opportunity to disrupt the Faithfuls' pattern.
Furthermore, Ivan cited counterexamples from season 2. In episode 3, Traitor Ash was among the last three to arrive at breakfast following Kyra's murder. Similarly, in episode 5, Traitor Paul was the last to arrive after Meg's murder.
The Traitors is currently airing its third season on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays on Peacock.
