What happened on Joao and Flavia's date in Too Hot To Handle season 6 episode 9?
In Too Hot To Handle season 6 episode 9, Joao and Flavia went on a date so they could resolve the issues that came up due to her flirty exchange with Jalen. Ahead of the date, Joao expressed uncertainty about wanting to continue the date and Flavia also stated that she was stressed.
"I'm feeling so stressed right now because Joao has been keeping his distance, but I'm just going to go into this date and fight for us, 'cause I feel like we've been building something special, and I just don't want to throw it away," Flavia said in a confessional.
During the date, Joao told her that the retreat was coming to an end and it made him wonder what they were doing together. She later said that their relationship was something she could see lasting in the "real world" and called him her "cuddle buddy."
When Flavia brought up the late arrival, Jalen, Joao said:
"I'm not going to lie, that did hurt me a lot. It did put a lot of doubts in my mind."
In a confessional, the Too Hot To Handle season 6 participant added that the conversation about Jalen was a "wake-up call." Flavia explained to Joao that her flirty equation was her "messing things up" and running away" due to her fear of commitment. Although Joao said he understood, it didn't change that Flavia felt unworthy of respect.
"It made me feel like I wasn't worth the respect of, like, not flirting with anybody else when you know I like you because I've been very vocal about it. We live very far away from each other, and like, if it was that simple for someone to walk in and for you to be like, "Oh, I kind of like him. I'm going to go talk to him," how would it be on the outside?" Joao asked.
Flavia said that it was a "real test" for her and she felt it was important for her to through it to to discover how she felt about Joao. She added it made her realize that she had "strong feelings" for Joao and that she liked him. Joao asked if he could play Flavia a song and stated that he felt it fit the situation.
Joao's song asked the question of whether their "time was up," and after the performance ended, she stated that she had the same question. In the following episode, Joao told her that he had made his decision to end things with Flavia.
He told her that although he liked their time together, he was upset about Flavia flirting with Jalen. He added that he couldn't "shake the worry" he had about their relationship on the outside. In a confessional, Flavia said that although she was sad her relationship with Joao was over, she was upset about how it ended.
"Last time I checked, the right way to end up things is with a conversation, not with a guitar," The female Too Hot To Handle season 6 cast member said in a confessional.
