Cedric Hodges was eliminated in week 4 of Big Brother season 26, in episode 15, which came out on August 15. His elimination was a huge shocker for viewers and contestants, who understood that his eviction was circumstantial.

Cedric told Julie Chen, the host of Big Brother 26, about several topics, personal as well as related to Big Brother, after he was evicted from the show. He spoke of his belief in God, challenging childhood, time in the BB house and how he felt when he was evicted.

In the August 20 interview, Cedric said that he was 12 when he took up a construction job, explaining:

"Just so I could help everybody out, times were hard, and people go through things, and I didn't wanna be a nuisance or a hindrance".

More details on Big Brother star Cedric's challenging childhood revealed

In her interview with the 21-year-old, Julie revealed aching details from his childhood, saying his dad was in prison and Cedric's mom used to abuse substances.

She also shared that Cedric, the eldest among five brothers, was brought up by his grandmother, who made him religious.

Apart from Cedric's construction worker story, Julie also said that he helped his grandmother put food on the table for the five children. He also said that he joined the Marine Corps when he graduated in 2020, as everything locked down and that the government would pay for his service.

Julie also said that Cedric held the highest certification in his program. He added that the Marine Corps isn't for everybody but felt blessed with the unit he got and the "amazing" people he met.

Julie then dived into Cedric's belief system and asked if he thought it was God who helped him have a good time at the Marine Corps. He said:

"I think that knowing God you can take in every account in your life ... if it's negative, it's a test of faith, and God hires you back, ultimately you work through your negatives. If it's positive it's a blessing from God".

Cedric also said that in the Big Brother house, God kept him grounded and helped him keep his morals aligned. He talked about how he used to read a random chapter from the Bible every day and surprisingly found something there that was related to the psychology of his gameplay that day.

Julie also asked him about his future. He said that he wants to spread positive vibes and also wants to spread the "Lord's name" while also flying his plane. Lastly, he also said that he rooted for Chelsie, Brooklyn and Cam, and that Chelsie is the smartest player in the house.

The interview happened before Brooklyn got eliminated from the house, which is why Cedric still rooted for her.

New episodes of Big Brother season 26 come out on every Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, and on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, on CBS.
