90 Day: The Last Resort season 2 is a reality TV series in which various couples focus on strengthening their relationship. The show features Bini and Ari, Brandon and Julia, Jasmine and Gino, Rob and Sophie, Stacey and Florian, and Natalie and Josh. Through a trip to an oasis in Arizona, the cast members go through group and individual therapies to work out the issues in their relationship.
In episode 8, Sophie opened up about her connection with her mom during the group therapy. She shared that she couldn't learn how to communicate her feelings in a healthy manner due to her mom's addiction issues. She told the cameras she "raised herself" as her mother struggled with addiction.
Sophie said:
"I basically just raised myself and maybe I think I have underestimated how much my mum's addiction issues have impacted me as an adult. I don't know how to set boundaries, I don't know how to express my emotions in a healthy way."

90 Day: The Last Resort cast member Sophie gets emotional while talking about her mom
During a confessional on 90 Day: The Last Resort season 2 episode 8, Sophie got teary-eyed while opening up about her relationship with her mom. She told the cameras that her mother was more like a friend to her but after her addiction, their relationship dynamic changed. Sophie stated it was difficult to see her mom go through that and struggle to show up as a parent. She mentioned:
"I had my mum, my mum was in my life but when someone's in addiction it's hard for them to be an actual parent and my mum was my friend, not my mum."
Later in the episode, the 90 Day: The Last Resort cast member admitted that before entering the resort she was blaming Robert for their relationship issues. But now she realized that her childhood and past was also one of the reasons behind their problems. Sophie added that she didn't know her mom's addiction was still impacting her life as an adult.
She shared she was hopeful to work on herself and then establish a stronger bond with Rob. According to Sophie, the realization helped her focus on the reason behind their getaway. She said:
"At the same time with everything in my past, that has also kind of stopped me from having success in my relationships. I feel like we could focus more on why we are here in the first place."
