"Don't want to be around him" — Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Daisy addresses fallout with Gary after love triangle drama

Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiered on Monday, October 7, 2024. The segment featured the reunion of Daisy Kelliher and Gary King after their onscreen love triangle with Colin MacRae in season 4. However, Colin was absent from their conversation since he did not return to Parsifal III as chief engineer in season 5.

While speaking to the cameras in the season premiere, Daisy reflected on her relationship status with Gary after the season 4 drama. She confessed she was not keen on coming face-to-face with him, recalling her difficult experience in the previous season.

"I am super excited to be here but seeing Gary - I just don't want to be around him. Gary made my life very difficult last season. He did not respect my relationship," Daisy said.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht star added that she was not looking forward to sharing the same workspace with Gary, as she was worried about how he would conduct himself around her.

However, the duo encountered each other later in the episode. Daisy utilized the opportunity to confront Gary about his actions in the previous season.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Daisy was upset with Gary for ignoring her

In season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, released in 2023, Daisy was caught up in a love triangle with Gary and Colin. She got intimate with Gary before getting on board. However, their relationship was kept under wraps since no one knew about their budding romance then.

Things got complicated when Daisy got romantically involved with Colin during the filming of season 4. Although their relationship ended after the cameras stopped rolling, it scarred Daisy's connection with Gary.

As the duo reunited in season 5, Daisy emotionally confronted Gary, addressing their bitter fallout. She said:

"I needed a f**king friend. After Colin and I broke up, I felt incredibly low and very lonely. All I wanted was you to call me. I needed you."

Of all the reasons, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star confessed that his cold behavior enhanced the pain of her breakup. She continued:

"I am not upset that you are angry at me. I am not upset that you had issues with me. I am not upset about any of that. I am upset that you f**king ignored me when I was asking to speak to you."

After listening to her, Gary tried to defend himself by saying he needed time to process the past. Daisy reiterated that she was not upset with him for what he did or how he felt after discovering her relationship with Colin. What affected her the most was that he abandoned her when she needed him.

Gary realized his mistake and extended his apologies to Daisy, hoping to give their relationship a fresh start.

"I was scared I couldn't put words into words. What kind of friend am I? I am really sorry," he said.

Gary, Daisy, and Colin reflected on their fallout when they assembled at the season 4 reunion, which aired in July 2023.

Both Gary and Colin implied that their respective relationships with Daisy were irreconcilable. At the same time, Daisy broke down knowing she jeopardized her friendship with them by putting her heart on the line.

In an interview with Us Weekly, published in November 2023, Daisy reflected on what she learned from her failed office romance.

"Don't screw the crew. That rule is there for a reason," she said.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht star added that she intended to keep business and pleasure separate in the coming seasons.

In an Instagram post published July 2023, Gary made a statement on his turbulent onscreen relationship with Daisy and Colin. He wrote that he was "still friends" with his co-stars. Watching the show back, he admitted he had "a lot of work and growing to do" to become a better person.

In season 5 episode 1, after Gary apologized to Daisy, and she agreed to start fresh, leaving their feud behind.
