Love Island Australia season 6 episode 29, the finale, aired on Monday, December 16, 2024. Before Sophie Monk, the show's host crowned the season 6 winners, the three final couples — Em and Mercedes, Niko and Mia, and Kaylah and Eric — talked to their family members via video chat, introducing them to their partners. During her turn, Kaylah gushed about how lucky she was to have met Eric.

It was the first time the coupled-up islanders had met their family members since entering the villa. It was an emotional moment for all, and many shed tears after seeing their parents or siblings on the screen. At the same time, many worried about the families' take on their relationships.

Kaylah and Eric were the first ones to talk to their loved ones. While chatting with her mother, Lee, and grandmother, Kay, the Love Island Australia islander praised Eric, appreciating his behavior with her and their overall chemistry.

"I was with someone before Eric walked in, and Eric walked in and I was just like, he just swept me off my feet. He blew me away, like, dream guy, honestly, yeah," Kaylah said.

The female islander was previously paired with Zane. However, their romance faded after he sparked a connection with Sophie at Hotel Amor. Although Zane had recoupled with Kaylah after returning from Hotel Amor, he remained unsure about his feelings.

Ultimately, the cast member broke up with her and ended things with Sophie, only to couple up with newcomer, Jade. Meanwhile, Eric paired with Kaylah, while Jade and Zane were voted off the island for their lack of potential.

"I'm happy for you guys" — Love Island Australia star Kaylah's mother on her relationship with Eric

The Love Island Australia season 6 islanders received a text first thing in the morning that informed them about their family meetings. While Kaylah confessed that her "emotions are running wild" thinking about the video chat, Eric said he hoped Kaylah's family would approve of him.

Lee and Kay were thrilled to see Kaylah and her partner, Eric. Despite their excitement, they were concerned about their future together. When Lee asked the couple if they planned to continue their relationship outside the villa, they nodded in agreement.

"Well, that's great. Well, I'm so happy for you guys," Lee said.

An emotional Kaylah requested they bring Huxley, her pet dog, to the screen. When Lee showed him to her, she cried and said she missed him.

Lee and Kay congratulated the couple on their journey inside the villa and wished them the best for the finale. Before ending the call, Lee asked Eric how tall he was. When she learned that he was 6'4" she was pleasantly surprised.

"Kaylah's mum said that she can't wait to meet me in person, so that's a good sign," Eric said.

Next up on the video call were Eric's best friends, Blake and Brittany. The pair appreciated how well Eric and Kaylah complemented one another.

When Brittany asked Eric to detail how and why he chose to partner with Kaylah, the Love Island Australia male cast member answered that she grabbed his attention from the start.

Eric stated that their connection was "real" and instantaneous. Kaylah added to the conversation, expressing how "crazy" it was that Eric arrived when she was single and looking for someone compatible.

When Blake asked the couple if they were planning to officialize their relationship by becoming girlfriend and boyfriend, Kaylah said:

"The ball's in his court."

Nonetheless, Eric's friends expressed excitement about meeting them outside and going on double dates. After the call ended, Kaylah told the cameras that she appreciated how closely bonded Eric was with his friends.

Later in the episode, when Eric asked Kaylah to be his girlfriend, she said "yes." Although the Love Island Australia couple made their relationship official, they lost the winner's crown to Em and Mercedes, who were declared victorious at the end of the episode.

Love Island Australia season 6 is available to stream on Hulu in the United States.
