Love is Blind: Mexico premiered on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Eligible singles from various walks of life participated in the experiment to find love. They interacted with multiple individuals hoping to find themselves a compatible partner.

In episode 2, Karen Torales forged a strong connection with castmate Fernando Hernandez. During one of their meetings, she gathered the courage to revisit her past and open up about her ex-partner, who betrayed her by lying about his orientation.

"You know the worst thing? Everybody blamed me. And everyone judged me and not him. Everyone asked me why I hadn't noticed," said Karen.

Fernando sympathized with her and discussed his disturbed relationship with his father. He realized he trusted Karen enough to let her into his past.

The show's format prevented the cast members from seeing each other, compelling them to forge connections based on their conversations. As a result, they often engaged in deep and thoughtful discussions to understand the mindset of the person in the pod across them.

Love is Blind: Mexico star Karen revealed her ex-partner cheated on her

While introducing herself, Karen mentioned that she had been single for the past two years. Her last relationship ended on a bitter note after she had found her ex-partner cheating on her with another man.

"My last relationship wasn't what I expected. I found messages from my partner to one of his guy friends. I didn't know that he was gay," said Karen.

She was upset because he didn't respect her enough to confess his true identity and instead chose to cheat on her. She revealed she participated in the experiment because she wanted to overcome the trauma and return to her old self.

"I think this experiment is going to help me remember how to love the way I used to," stated Karen.

The Love is Blind: Mexico cast member wanted to settle in life so that she could provide a better future for her daughter.

In episode 2, Fernando mentioned how important a topic of discussion could be while interacting with potential partners. "Family and life" were the topics he believed should be discussed in detail instead of superficial things. As a result, he urged Karen to open up about her personal life so he could understand her better.

"Oh no, it's embarrassing," said Karen.

She eventually opened up after Fernando encouraged her. She disclosed that her ex-partner, with whom she used to live, was intoxicated one night.

Since she was already suspicious of him, she took his phone to check his messages. She was taken aback when she discovered her ex-partner had been texting another man.

However, when she tried to confront him, he violently countered her.

"And when I told him, 'I'm gonna tell your whole family,' he grabbed me and started hitting me in a way you can't even imagine. I swear, if nobody had come to help, he would have killed me because he was choking me," said Karen.

Fernando felt extremely upset after hearing Karen's story. He admitted how the Love is Blind: Mexico cast member's ex-partner behaved with her was "an act of cowardice."

Karen added that her family blamed her for being unable to "notice" the lies.

"Can you really blame someone for trusting another person and loving them? No," noted Karen.

Fernando tried to console Karen when he heard her crying. He thanked her for sharing such a personal story and reassured her that she could trust him because he would never hurt her in any way.

The Love is Blind: Mexico duo consolidated their relationship and became engaged later in episode 2.

The first four episodes of Love is Blind: Mexico are streaming only on Netflix.
