In the recently released episode 8, Alexis Welch opened up about her divorce with Amar'e Stoudemire as well as her current love life with the former NFL player, Johnathan. In a confessional, Welch shared that she and Johnathan are on the same page when it comes to being "family-oriented" and "leading a legacy." She said:
"As far as my love life, I feel Johnathan and I are looking for the same thing as far as family-oriented vibes and leading a legacy as well as being fly while doing it."

In W.A.G.s to Riches season 1 episode 8, Alexis Welch talked about her divorce and her newly built connection with Johnathan. In her confessional interview, Alexis shared her preferences and what she's looking for in a potential partner. According to Welch, dating someone from the sports world isn't mandatory as she has already been married to an Olympian before. Welch explained:
"The man I date does not need to be an athlete because I was married to an Olympian and I've lived that life. So I'm like, what have you invested in? what are going to do after? Cause basketball and sh*t like this you know, football is even shorter."
Alexis implied that the fame associated with football and basketball career doesn't last long. For her, having something side by side is important. She told the cameras that Johnathan has a separate real estate career and is not only dependent on the NFL. The W.A.G.s to Riches star explained that Johnathan "checks out a lot of boxes" for her. She continued:
"The fact that Johnathan played in the NFL and then has a whole another career selling real estate, that's very attractive to me. The fact that you can pivot ahead is very s*xy. Johnathan checks a lot of boxes off for me."
Later in the episode, Alexis reflected on her divorce stating she is looking forward to building a genuine connection with Johnathan as they both have similar values.
The W.A.G.s to Riches cast member equated her divorce with the death of the future and hopes. Alexis said that going through divorce turned out to be a "beautiful ugliness" and she and her ex-husband continued to have goals for their family.
"In hindsight, it became a beautiful ugliness. Amar'e had his time with me. I had my time with Amar'e."
