The Challenge: Battle of the Eras returned with a new episode on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. In the episode, the contestants faced off as individuals after their eras were disbanded last week. Consequently, they strived to present their best game, vying to outperform the others and establish their dominance in the competition.
However, not everyone could champion the challenges they were presented with. After Laurel and Nehemiah were purged from the show having finished last in the daily challenge, it was time for the elimination round, which would send one male cast member packing. Theo competed against Johnny Bananas but failed to defeat him, ending his journey on the show.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Theo took to X to reflect on the elimination challenge in which he had to crawl through a tight space. He responded to fans claiming the task was "rigged" noting the size difference between him and Bananas.
"Not rigged. But favorable. Not much was involved other than size. Every single girl there would have beaten me. I like to believe there's a fighting chance but I knew it was over before it even started," Theo said.
Fans believed Bananas had the upper hand since his size allowed him to crawl through the space more freely while the same became a hindrance for the 6'5" Love Island UK alum. Nonetheless, he was grateful for the experience and congratulated Bananas on his win.
"Always a pleasure" — The Challenge star Theo comments on his experience on the show
Tori pitted Theo against Bananas in an elimination challenge called Cramping Out. Two long glass cylinders with numerous holes were placed at the center of the arena. As the first step of the challenge, each player had to insert eight metal poles into their opponent's cylinders to complicate the game and make it difficult for them to crawl through it.
If both Theo and Johnny completed the task, they would join host T.J. Lavin for a game of high-low to see who would have to add more poles to their cylinder. The players would continue the process until someone got stuck in the obstacle.
Looking back at the rules of the game, Theo wrote on X on November 7, 2024, that he "knew it would be some BS elimination" once he realized he was pitted against Bananas. He knew Bananas' size would put him at an advantage.
"Game of high and low and being smaller was massive advantage. Plus they reduced the time before he had all the poles in on his side and mine was full," he said.
The Challenge: Battle of the Eras star felt he "was better off getting purged" since the challenge was not built for someone his size.
Theo had defeated Bananas once when they faced off in a task earlier in the show. Recalling that incident, a fan wrote under his post, "This is more fair then the one you beat him in last time though," to which Theo replied, "Definitely not."
When another fan asked if they disliked him or favored "the Banana man," Theo sarcastically retorted saying the treatment meted out to him was natural since he was on Love Island while Bananas was on "the challenge."
However, in another tweet posted the same day, Theo congratulated Bananas on his victory, commending his gameplay.
"Oh and congrats to Jonny. My 2 losses are to the 2 goats of the challenge so no shame there. If I ever come back ima make sure I run more then 1 mile beforehand and not drink 4 times a week on there.." he said.
Despite the difficulties, both contenders went back and forth for 13 rounds without giving up. When T.J. announced they had 30 seconds to get out of the cylinders, Theo struggled to crawl out, earning Bananas his second elimination victory of the season.
Although he was sent home mid-season, Theo was grateful for the experience and tweeted about the same.
"Anyway always a pleasure. I had a great time on Season 40 and as always it's hell of an experience even if most of us complain at times. Until next time, maybe P.s F Paulie," Theo wrote.
The Challenge: Battle of the Eras airs new episodes every Wednesday at 8 pm ET only on MTV.
