Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary has been part of the ABC reality TV series for a long time. During his time on the show, Kevin, also known as Mr. Wonderful has invested in many companies besides providing guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs.
On Shark Tank, a mix-and-match lip balm pitch included a kissing booth setup. Barbara was invited to volunteer for the kissing booth alongside Kevin to test the lip balms. At the kissing booth Kevin joked about turning into stone once he kissed Barbara, saying that he could "feel the fire." Kevin continued:
"Listen, Barbara, If I turn into stone, I'd be pretty unhappy. Okay, come on let's try it. I can feel the fire."
The clip was posted to the official Wiredset LLC YouTube channel on March 1, 2012. The video description stated that a "mix and match lip balm" pitch made Barbara and Kevin kiss. It further mentioned:
"On Friday's all-new Shark Tank, the sharks hear a pitch for a flavored mix-and-match lip balm that invites Barbara and Kevin to try it out...by having to kiss! Later, they see a revolutionary clothing item, innovative kitchen products, and a heat-recycling device."
Kisstixx creators pitch a flavored lip balm for partners on Shark Tank
On Shark Tank, the Kisstixx entrepreneurs explained the idea behind launching their own lip balms. They explained that going out in the sun would affect the skin as the lips would become chapped. Despite trying out other lip balm brands, none of them seemed to work due to their limited flavors. Hence, the idea of Kisstix, which is a lip balm used to soften up the lips having two aroma flavors, came into being.
The entrepreneurs explained:
"while playing in the sun, my lips would get dry and chapped and no one wanted to kiss me. I tried every lip balm on the market and the only thing worse than kissing dry chapped lips are cherry cough syrup, it's disgusting. So I knew, I had a better way to soften up my lips and ramp up my game with the ladies."
They continued explaining the two lip balms were for both partners and once they apply the lip balm, a "chemistry reaction" will occurs due to the combining of the two flavors. The Shark Tank pitch also mentioned:
"That's why I created Kiss Sticks. Kiss Sticks is a high-quality lip balm that comes packaged in two compatible flavors. One for you and one for your partner, when you kiss, these amazing flavors combine creating a chemistry reaction that's bursting with flavors and aroma."
Apart from the packaging and product, a kissing booth was part of the setup too. Then, Barbara was invited to the kissing booth and Kevin volunteered to kiss her. Other sharks including Daymond, Robert, and Mark started cheering for their fellow cast members. The clip ended with Barbara kissing Kevin as the other sharks joked about the incident.
