Food Network is kicking off the spooky season early with a lineup of Halloween-themed shows, specials, and episodes that will premiere in September. Known for its creative take on the festive season, the channel aims to keep viewers entertained through October with a mix of new and returning fan favorites, offering plenty of thrills, chills, and sweet treats.
The line-up will return with classics like Halloween Baking Championship, Kids Baking Championship, Halloween Wars, and Outrageous Pumpkin. In a press release dated August 13, 2024, Betsy Ayala, Head of Food Content at Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasized the approach taken by the network:
"Food Network's Halloween programming is iconic because of its fantastical themes and extraordinary creations. Launching Halloween in September allows us to build fan excitement early and carry that momentum through October to the end of the year.”
According to the press release, each presentation will have a novel theme or twist, such as desserts with steampunk influences or pumpkin masterpieces that defy gravity. Every popular daytime series, including The Kitchen and The Pioneer Woman, will have an episode dedicated to Halloween.
Food Network's Halloween line-up starts with Halloween Baking Championship
Food Network will begin festive celebrations with the Halloween Baking Championship's debut on September 16 at 9 pm ET. This season of the show will immerse viewers in the ghostly world of 'Henson Laboratories', a haunted science lab, with a steampunk theme.
Ten talented bakers will compete, and their creations will be inspired by the lab's enigmatic research to produce beautiful sweets. Once again, John Henson will serve as host, guiding the bakers through two challenging rounds each week.
For the first time in the history of the program, immunity will be up for grabs, adding a new strategic dimension to the conflict. Judges Carla Hall, Stephanie Boswell, and Zac Young will decide who has what it takes to be the next baking champion.
New specials and returning favorites
Four well-known child bakers will be featured in the Kids Baking Championship: Scary Good, special, which will air on October 7 at 8 pm ET. The young competitors will be tasked with making pull-apart cupcakes with a Halloween theme, hosted by Duff Goldman and Kardea Brown.
What's the catch? One of the world's hottest peppers would be included in their confections. The stakes would be considerably higher because of a surprising turn of events later in the tournament that could jeopardize their baking supplies and equipment.
The return of Halloween Wars on September 22 at 9 pm ET will prolong the enjoyment of this spooky season. Jonathan Bennett, along with judges Shinmin Li and Aarti Sequeira, will return to the hosting role.
Eight teams comprised of skilled sugar artisans, cake decorators, and pumpkin carvers will compete this season to construct spectacular displays with a monster theme. A former champion will lead each team, and their culinary creations will embody the spirit of well-known Halloween creatures. The title will be awarded to the victorious squad.
Superstars of Outrageous Pumpkins and additional daytime content
Outrageous Pumpkins, another beloved return, will premiere on September 29 at 10 pm ET. Fourteen of the top pumpkin carvers in the nation will compete in teams to create stunning pumpkin displays on this show, which is hosted by Damaris Phillips.
The obstacles are more formidable than ever, with things like gravity-defying structures and mechanical beasts with spectacular effects. Teams will be fighting for the inaugural title of Outrageous Pumpkins All-Stars Champions.
Popular daytime shows like The Kitchen and The Pioneer Woman will also have Halloween-themed episodes on Food Network, in addition to the nighttime specials. These episodes will include scary recipes, and party ideas to assist viewers in getting into the festive spirit.
The Food Network website will have access to behind-the-scenes videos, picture galleries, and celebrity advice.
