"For me, that's not a safe place"— Sister Wives star Kody shares his views on going to Church

In the last episode of Sister Wives, Robyn and her two daughters expressed a strong desire to return to church. In episode 14, which premiered on December 15, Robyn asked Kody about his stance on the matter.

While Kody was open to Robyn and their daughters attending church, he revealed that he still harbored a deep resentment towards religion, stating that the Church was not a safe place for him.

"For me, that's not a safe place," Kody told Robyn.

Kody later explained that his polygamist faith started to contradict the "religionist attitudes" and when his church started to urge him to cut his hair or act a certain way, he turned his head and never looked back.

In Sister Wives season 19 episode 14, Kody and Robyn went on a date and exchanged their thoughts on going back to church.

During the segment, Robyn shared in her confessional that when she met Kody he was very much involved in their church, and from her understanding he was happy about it. However, when Kody went public with their polygamist lifestyle it changed everything for him.

“I think really, the way that our church reacted to that really, kind of, threw him off, and it made him feel just like, ‘Wait, what the heck?’” she added.

While Kody's beliefs about religion and church hadn't changed, he was okay with Robyn going back. However, the Sister Wives star told her that he would come with her as he was worried that someone would flirt with her if she went alone.

“Well, you don’t want to go too long without me, because I don’t want some guy thinking you’re a single mom,” he told Robyn.

Kody later expressed in his confessional that there were a lot of men interested in Robyn, who he felt were sort of trying to get around him and to her. This worried him because Kody had first met Robyn at church. He vividly remembered the moment they locked eyes, feeling an undeniable connection between them.

Kody's gaze remained fixed on her until she eventually looked away. At that point, he became self-conscious, thinking his attention might be inappropriate, and he assumed she was likely married.

The Sister Wives star further recalled in his confessional that the first time he ever laid eyes on her he was leaning over the back of the chair, talking to a neighbor behind him. He locked eyes with Robyn and he couldn't break away.

After sharing his perspective, Kody asked Robyn what was going through her might during that moment. Robyn recalled:

"I was sitting there with my cousin. I was looking around. I looked at you for a while and the thing that caught my eye as far as seeing you as your laugh lines because I love laugh lines and then you looked at me and a bolt of lightning shot through my body."

In her confessional, she revealed that after meeting Kody at the church, their paths crossed again a month later—this time, unexpectedly, on her cousin's lawn and Kody was accompanied by Meri.

Given the history, Kody told Roby that he didn't want some other guy holding her gaze. Robyn put his worries to rest and reassured him that she’d wear her wedding ring and tell everyone she was off the market.
