This reality TV series highlights the challenges and obstacles these couples face while being in a long-distance relationship. Season 5 introduced viewers to Donny and Jakeema who built an emotional connection while Donny stays in jail.
In the newly released December 20, 2024 episode, Donny shared in his confessional interview that he wanted to marry Jakeema once he was released from prison. He said:

Love After Lockup cast member Donny opens up about his connection with Jakeema
On Love After Lockup season 5 episode 52, Donny shared plans about his future with Jakeema. During his confessional interview, he shared that he wanted things to go smoothly to potentially get released from prison soon. Reflecting on his bond with Jakeema, Donny stated when they first started talking with each other, he had to prove he was "serious" about getting into a relationship.
Reflecting on their strong emotional connection, Donny mentioned that he had planned on getting to know Jakeema better, he continued:
"I have a possibility of getting out next year if everything goes right. But if not, I can get out in 2027. I definitely pursued her because I'll get on JPay and I just kept seeing her name. Something kept drawing my mind to it. Then I sent her some edible arrangement to let her know I was serious and interested, you know in getting to really know her."
Later in the episode, Jakeema shared that she had moved closer to Donny so she could meet him often. The Love After Lockup star stated that they both had only met once in person which is why she moved near Donny to have the distance factor removed between them. According to Jakeema, Donny was an independent individual who would also assist her with her financial situation to raise her kids.
Jakeema expressed her love for Donny stating that he knows her better than herself, she said:
