Season 21 of The Bachelorette has come to an end with its finale episode, i.e. episode 10 released on September 3. The finale saw Jenn getting engaged to Devin but the finale revealed that he broke off the engagement, not long after the show ended.

Marcus, who was second in line to Devin, exhibited uncertainty about his feelings for Jenn. The finale episode saw him honestly telling Jenn that he wasn't yet in love and that he would want to try more. Jenn decided to propose to Devin after she had a conversation with Marcus, where he said he wasn't "there yet".

Fans of The Bachelorette who have taken to X to give their two cents on Marcus' feelings are divided by his decision. Some didn't approve of his uncertainty because he was among the final two, while others thought he was being honest, or wasn't feeling it because of his past traumas.

"Marcus NEEDS HEALING.. STILL NEEDS HIS MOMMY TO COME BACK. GIVE HIM FREE HELP ABC!!!" a fan said.
"Marcus needs therapy not a fiancé #thebachelorette check back with him in a few years. He’s a great guy. Maybe he can be the bachelor," said another.
"I really don’t include Marcus in that group. I can empathize & understand his trauma. I thank him for his service & I hope he finds a way to heal & finds love," a third one said.
"I appreciate Marcus honesty," wrote a fan.

Many of The Bachelorette fans didn't approve of his uncertainty and believed that Marcus should've been more vocal about what was bothering him.

"Marcus keeps saying he had time to introspect and be honest with himself about his feelings, but then didn’t seem to know or be able to communicate what those feelings were…," an X user wrote.
"What are you struggling with Marcus?? Give the girl some specifics! Is it just the "process" or show mechanics and that's why it's so vague and not directly said?? I don't understand this conversation," another wrote.
"Marcus. 32 year old realizing feelings are involved on a tv show where you end up engaged," a fan commented.
"Everyone is just shaking their heads with Marcus' responses," said another comment.

What happened between Jenn and Marcus on the finale episode of The Bachelorette season 21?

Jenn took both her The Bachelorette final men, Devin and Marcus to meet her parents in Hawaii. After Jenn's brother, James, met Marcus, he was worried Jenn was falling for another "emotionally unavailable" man. He told her family that even though he had "strong feelings" for Jenn, he also had his "hesitations and reservations".

When James pushed him to speak more about his feelings in a private chat, Marcus said he was on his way to find true love but wasn't yet ready to say, the L-word. When her aunt asked him if he loved Jenn, Marcus said he wasn't there then. This made Jenn's mom enumerate that he wasn't ready to get engaged.

Before making her final decision, Jenn wanted to talk to Marcus one last time to know how he felt about her. When she asked him why he didn't seem very interested in the future, he apologized for not being clear with her. Further in their conversation Marcus finally said:

"I know I love you...I'm not giving you what you need".

This made Jenn say she was done, and get out of the scene after giving him a goodbye hug. This also made her realize that Marcus wasn't the right man to propose to.

Grant Ellis from The Bachelorette season 21 is the next The Bachelor on season 29, which is set to release in January 2025.
