The Challenge 40: Battle of Eras' Wednesday episode, titled, Trust In Your Era was released exclusively on MTV on October 2, 2024, at 8:00 ET/PT. In this episode, two contestants from Era 1, Darrell Taylor and Tina Barta were sent home after Era 4 players Kyland Young and Michele Fitzgerald won the elimination task.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly on October 2, 2024, Darrell discussed his elimination and more specifically his friendship with Jordan. Taylor mentioned saving Jordan during the game but that wasn't the case when he was sent into elimination. Reflecting on the reason why Jordan didn't return the favor, Darrell hinted that it might be because of his friends. He further mentioned:
"I've saved Jordan a few times and I've never been saved by Jordan. I'm still cool with him, but I'm starting to notice because he has all these friends, but for some reason he's never scratched my back. So I'm going to remember that."
The Challenge star Darrell discusses his elimination and talks about Jordan and Nina's move
While talking about his elimination, The Challenge star stated he was confident in his abilities and believed Era 1 could win. Saying that he wasn't "intimidated" but wanted his "revenge," Darrell continued:
"I was pretty confident. I knew I was going to win against Kyland. I knew it was math, but I know that I'm good at math. I wasn't intimidated by him, even though he [beat me] when I came in as a mercenary. But I wanted my revenge."
In a conversation with TV Insider on October 2, Taylor was asked whether he was sure of convincing others not to send him for elimination. Referring to the alliance between Nehemiah and Nia, Taylor was sure that the decision had already been made. He knew that they had "their mind made up."
“Hell no, I didn’t think it was going to work. They had their mind made up from day one. Nehemiah [Clark] is so close to Nia [Moore], I knew that from the gate there’s no way.”
The Challenge contestant was annoyed at Jordan and Nia trying to "justify" their action. After Jordan said it was just a game, Darrell couldn't understand why they both were trying to smooth things over. According to Taylor, he knew that he and Tina were to be sent for elimination.
Tina also chimed in during the Parade October 2 interview that Jordan and Nia made it seem like she and Darrell had a chance to survive but that wasn't the case.
The Challenge star, Darrell, further said to Insider that he wanted to "avoid" having a discussion after he and Tina were already eliminated from the competition:
"I think it's when they try to come and smooth it over and justify what they did, and Tina could smell the bullsh*t. It's like, you already had your mind made up. Why are you trying to kiss my a** and try to make me feel better? That type of stuff. That's why I avoided because I didn't want to hear it. I already knew I was going in."
