Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars season 2 episode 2 explored

Team members gathered at Battersea Power Station in London, their hearts racing with excitement for their first task, which involved a food truck. The pressure was on, with only 24 hours until launch. For one unfortunate contestant, this would be their final task.

Team Gordon includes Ali, Kyson, Tyler, Andrew, Chuan, Liz, and Rose. Firstly, contestants needed to decide who would carry out what tasks. These included working in the kitchen, promotion, design, and entertainment, among others. Team Gordon agreed that Rose, Ali, and Andrew would be handling the kitchen.

As for Team Vanderpump, team members include Erica, Kamal, Maria Laura, Peri, Jess, Nicholas, and Roman. Nicholas and Roman would be handling all the cooking. Roman, 21, who has been selling pretzels at his food truck, got the dream job of managing the food truck and selling.

After many discussions, Team Ramsay decided to serve Mexican food. For Team Vanderpump, Roman suggested selling Italian sandwiches, which everyone agreed on.

Later, teams returned to the design studio and kitchen to start the creative process based on different ideas. Ramsay’s team finalized the name Fiesta London, which will sell chicken tacos, quesadillas, and steak tacos. Rose, a former competitive bodybuilder, hates to lose, so she chose to manage the analytical and financial aspects of the food truck.

Team Vanderpump had Maria Laura, Jess, and Peri working on promotions. Jess came up with the name Mid-Day Amore: Italian Lunch for Lovers. When Lisa came in for an update, she wasn’t intrigued by the branding, reminding the team that there are many business people out there.

"More than anything it’s not about the food, it’s not about the promo, it’s not about f*cking trucks. It’s not about anything other than who gives it to Flash Gordon," said Lisa who seemed quite competitive against the other team.

Gordon Ramsay’s team at Food Stars continued working on their brand logos while the remaining members worked in the kitchen and decided on the costs of menu items.

Meanwhile, Nicholas and Roman from Team Lisa wanted to use a ciabatta roll, not the sub roll. Erica mentioned using a sub-roll that costs $1.50 less. However, they agreed on Ciabatta. Their chicken cutlet sandwich was $2.70, which Erica wanted to sell for $7; however, Roman and Nicholas suggested increasing the price to $10–$12.

The final day had arrived, and both teams had to make or break. Team Vanderpump couldn't agree on pricing. When Gordon came across a $14 panini for the other team, he wished them well, as he described it:

"They are going to need it."

Even Lisa was concerned about the price of the sandwich.

Gordon’s team settled on $4 per taco and gave his approval for the name Fiesta London. However, when he went to check on the menu and asked for Tyler, who wasn’t on that team, he was surprised. Ramsay told Tyler that he needed to know everything happening on his team.

Ramsay’s team, with lower prices, attracted more customers. However, when they saw customers from their lines moving towards the competitors, arguments ensued between members of Team Ramsay.

Finally, the results were out. Team Ramsay spent around $463, while Team Vanderpump spent $568. Ramsay’s team made $1172, so their profit was $709. Lisa’s team earned $1947, and their profit was $1399.

Seeing Lisa’s team win, Gordon Ramsay tossed the ledger on the ground, saying,

"Bloody disappointed."

By the end of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars season 2 episode 2, Tyler Dirks was eliminated, while his parting words were:

"I would have loved to continue on and see how long I stayed on. It was a very hectic first challenge, and I was just in a hectic situation that was out of my wheelhouse."

Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars season 2 airs on Wednesdays on Fox at 9 pm ET.
