Robert Herjavec uploaded a video on his official YouTube account on December 8, 2024. In this clip, the Shark Tank star shared what he learned from the "legendary investor" Charlie Munger. One of the major lessons Robert learned in late Charlie's company was not to judge others by their flashy lifestyle. He talked about wealth stating:
"Don't judge others by the toys you see. Great wealth tends to whisper, not shout."
The video description read:
"Charlie Munger, the legendary investor and Warren Buffett’s right-hand man, shared timeless wisdom that shaped not only my journey in business but also my perspective on life. In this video, I’ll share 10 transformative lessons I learned directly from Charlie during our conversations."
Shark Tank star Robert opens up about his learnings related to money
In his video, the Shark Tank investor discussed the importance of staying "humble" and not running after the fancy stuff. Robert shared that during his conversations with Charlie Munger, he realized that the latter was a down-to-earth man who wasn't interested in showing off his wealth.
According to Robert, he mentioned that if someone feels the need to flaunt their money, they might not be as rich as they say they are. He added that wealth is not just expressed in one way, the "quiet" kind of wealth is the "most powerful" one. Robert said:
"Wealth does not always express itself the way you think. Never assume that the one with the flashiest toys is the richest one. In fact, in my experience, quiet wealth is usually the most powerful and biggest wealth. If you need to tell people how rich you are in general, you're probably not that rich."
Later in the video, Robert explained that surrounding oneself with people having growth mindset is important to become rich. He further elaborated that one should not judge someone on the basis of their extravagant lifestyle. He said that there is no criteria to determine someone's wealth as some of his billionaire friends follow a healthy lifestyle, while others don't. The Shark Tank star continued:
"The goal is not necessarily to get a million but the goal is to learn how others have done it and apply it to yourself. This is simply my journey and what I have learned from some of these remarkable people."
Robert discussed how Charlie would never talk about making a lot of money. Instead, making money was an outcome of his larger goal, something he didn't solely focus on while running a business. Robert came to realize that becoming rich is not the end goal but rather a process that takes time and patience.
Shark Tank is available to stream exclusively on ABC. Viewers can follow Robert on his social media account as well as subscribe to his YouTube channel to learn more life lessons.
