As The Golden Bachelorette is closing in on its finale, the show has been able to bring forward interesting stories of various bachelors vying for the love of 61-year-old Joan Vassos. Joan was a part of the show's predecessor, which featured Gerry Turner as the bachelor.
By the end of The Golden Bachelorette episode 6, Joan had narrowed down her search to three bachelors who would fight for her love in the finale as she tries to come to a final decision. These three bachelors are Chock, Guy, and Pascal, who took Joan to their hometown in order to meet their families.
During this time, the resident of Wichita, Kansas, Chock, paid tribute to his mother by planting a tree in her honor. While the whole family gathered to show solidarity, Chock decided to express his love for Joan to his father but had a hard time admitting it.
The host of the show, Jesse Palmer, sat down with Entertainment Weekly on October 24, 2024, where he was asked about the same. Jesse expressed empathy, as many men, including Chock, are brought up in a way that restrains their expression of love towards their fathers.
"I certainly don’t want to speak on behalf of Chock, but I think as men, we have a harder time opening up to our fathers when it comes to love and our own intimate feelings," claimed Jesse.
Jesse was surprised by Joan's confusion after hometown visit on The Golden Bachelorette
In episode 6, Joan visited the four bachelors in their hometowns separately. The Golden Bachelorette's visit to Chicago didn't go according to plan for Pascal and Jordan, who live in the same city. Despite having an enjoyable time, Joan confessed that she was still confused about how she felt for both.
In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jesse was asked about the same. The Golden Bachelorette host was surprised by Joan's confusion, as in the past, a hometown visit had accelerated the connection between two people.
"I was very surprised, since hometowns generally give you more clarity and answers that you need to progress relationships. We’re used to seeing connections grow by leaps and bounds after hometown dates," stated Jesse.
The hometown visit episode brought up a lot of interesting interactions between the family members who tried to know Joan better. In one such instance, when Joan visited Pascal, the latter's grandson, Pryce, asked Joan whether they had kissed.
Jesse addressed the instance and claimed that kids were the toughest interrogators since "they have zero filters" and could tell who was lying or not. He believed that after his time on the show, he had seen kids being direct while asking the necessary questions that put people on the spot.
What to expect from the finale of The Golden Bachelorette?
Joan Vassos introduced herself in the show as a widow who was currently working as a school administrator. At the start, she will have to choose between 24 eligible bachelors who want a second chance at finding love in their golden years. The suitors for Joan included individuals working as chiropractors, private investors, educators, and ER doctors.
The men had to move into a mansion where they lived in close proximity with their competitors. They also had to clean up the area themselves and figure out who would take the top of the bunk bed.
Jesse introduced various concepts of dates to the men, and eventually Joan had to eliminate individuals one-by-one, which led to the final three bachelors. In the finale, Joan would have to decide between Pascal, Guy, and Chock as to who she would give the final rose to and get engaged with.
