"He can make anything"- Rhythm + Flow star Detroit Diamond chimes in on collaborating with Brizzy

Rhythm + Flow season 2 episode 6 premiered on November 27 on Netflix. The episode showcased the debut single round, where the top seven contestants were tasked with creating a full-fledged song in collaboration with a producer and designing accompanying artwork.

One of the top seven, Detroit Diamond, visited Stankonia Studios to collaborate with producer Brizzy on Da Beat to create her first debuted single. She was familiar with Brizzy's work as he worked on JT's No Bars. She said that if the producer gets in his zone, he can "make anything."

"My producer… I already knew who he was because he did JT's "No Bars." And if he can get in his bag, like, he can… He can make anything," Detroit Diamond said.

Rhythm + Flow star Detroit Diamond takes through her creative process

Detroit Diamond was the first contestant to hit the stage for the debut singles round in Rhythm + Flow season 2 episode 6. Before her performance, the contestant took the viewers through her creative process and showed how she made the song Pressure and its artwork.

Talking about Stankonia Studios, Diamond said that she was at the place where "OutKast did like 100 million hits". She added being in the same space as they felt "super dope" to her.

"We here where OutKast did like 100 million hits. So, to even just be in this same place, like… It's like super dope..." she said.

After discussing her song with producer Brizzy, she told him she wanted an "up-tempo BPM." She added that the beat usually tells her what needs to be said through her song.

Rhythm + Flow contestant Diamond further explained in her confessional that her song was called Pressue because diamonds and pressure go hand in hand with each other.

After finishing her debut single, Detroit Diamond collaborated with renowned photographer Cam Kirk for her artwork. Known for working with stars like Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, and Migos, Kirk brought his signature flair to the project. Detroit Diamond described the experience as “sweet” and “super dope.”

"So when you working with a photographer like Cam Kirk… It's like, this sweet, like…He worked with Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos. Like, to be able to collab with him now on like my first single is like super dope", she said.

Diamond knew the importance of the artwork for her first single as it would help her present herself to the world. To understand her personality, Cam Kirk asked how her audience viewed her and what she was doing differently from other artists. She responded that people know her for her "versatility."`

Diamond added that she knew how to have a Detroit flow. However, she had universal sound. She explained everything about what she stood for, "Detroit and diamond," which was a huge part of her personality as a rapper.

"People know me for, like, my versatility. I know how to have a Detroit flow, but I have a universal sound. Everything that I stand for is Detroit and diamond. And being born and raised in Detroit, it just always flow," The Rhythm + Flow contestant said.

She later expressed in her confessional that she was the only one who graduated college in her family. Currently, her goal is to create generational wealth to support her loved ones.

Diamond added that there were a lot of people who tried to get in her way. However, instead of letting it take over her, she shared that she uses it as a motivation to win.
