In the most recent episode of Big Brother, Cedric Hodges, one of the most competitive players this season, unexpectedly left the show. Cedric, who was 21 years old, was an important part of the Pentagon alliance, which looked much stronger than the other groups. But when he was evicted, the balance of power in the house changed, and his friends had to work hard to get back in charge.
Every step of Cedric's journey on Big Brother was difficult. He quickly became a fan favorite because of how well he played strategy games and how strong he was. However, his alliance started to fall apart when Quinn Martin, a fellow member of the Pentagon, broke their trust by telling another alliance about their group.
After his eviction on the August 15 episode, Cedric spoke about Tucker. He told Us:
"I love Tucker and respect him as a man. But as a player, it’s still a rivalry [and] he got the best of me."
The rivalry between Cedric and Tucker in Big Brother
Tucker Des Lauriers and Cedric Hodges, two of the most competitive players on Big Brother this season, got into a heated argument that led to Cedric being kicked off the show. Their fight started a week before Cedric was kicked out, when he was Head of Household (HOH). Cedric put Tucker forward, along with Angela and Kenney, because he saw Tucker as a major threat to the game.
Tucker's strong performance in the Power of Veto competition in Big Brother allowed him to save Angela. But instead of guaranteeing his own safety, he risked everything by asking Cedric to name Quinn, a member of the Pentagon, as a replacement. His decision to nominate Makensy instead of betraying his ally caused an issue in his relationship with Tucker.
Tucker was upset about Cedric's decision, as he was known as a "comp beast" due to his numerous wins in competitions. When things got worse between them, Tucker vowed to get even. After Cedric's eviction, Tucker secured the coveted HOH position, demonstrating the significant impact of their rivalry on the game's trajectory.
Tucker's victory made sure he would be safe, but it also put Cedric's old allies in danger because Tucker was now in a great position to break up what was left of the Pentagon alliance.
The Pentagon’s once-solid foundation is crumbling, and its members are left to navigate the game without one of their strongest players.
The fallout: What’s next for the pentagon alliance in Big Brother?
The Pentagon alliance doesn't look good for the future now that Tucker is in charge and Cedric is gone. Cedric's eviction particularly hurt Brooklyn Rivera, who had worked hard to keep him in the house. Cam Sullivan-Brown, Chelsie Baham, and Brooklyn are now in a dangerous situation because Tucker is likely to go after them next.
As the house prepares for another round of nominations and evictions, the survivors at the Pentagon must quickly adapt to the new power structure or risk going the way of Cedric. Now the game has taken a dramatic turn, and the Pentagon's survival depends on how well they can outsmart Tucker and the new alliances that have formed since Cedric left.
