RHOC star Shannon Beador was criticized by Joel Kim Booster, the host of Peacock's new reality show, Love Hotel. In a now-deleted Instagram story posted on September 29, 2024, Joel called out Shannon's behavior on the show, accusing her of being a "pathetic drunk" among various other things.
Shannon reacted to the issue during a Shannon and Vicki Live! at the Irvine Improve in California on Thursday, October 3. She confessed she was surprised by the sudden outburst, unaware of its root cause. She said:
"He [Joel] hopes that I suffer...He said that he feels he feels sorry for John Hanssen. He says that I am nothing but a pathetic drunk."
The RHOC cast member was taken aback by Joel's attack on her, unable to figure out what went wrong. She was even more upset to hear that Joel later bashed her daughters Sophie, Stella, and Adeline.
RHOC star Shannon Beador claims Joel had "nothing but love" for her during the filming of Love Hotel
In July 2024, Peacock announced they would soon launch a new reality TV dating show, starring some of the most renowned names of The Real Housewives franchise.
The show would feature Luann de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York, Shannon Beador from The Real Housewives of Orange County, Gizelle Bryant, and Ashley Darby from The Real Housewives of Potomac. On Love Hotel, eligible singles would compete against one another to win the hearts of Bravo's biggest bachelorettes.
However, the sets were not deprived of drama. In a now-deleted Instagram Story, the show's host Joel bashed 60-year-old Shannon for her "subhuman" behavior during filming. The RHOC star was baffled by the sudden attack. Recalling the incident, she said:
"I really don't know what it's about...An hour earlier that night before the wrap party, he had tears in his eyes and said, 'I'm, so happy for you.' "
She added that it was "silly" of Joel to target her all of a sudden when he had "nothing but love" for her during the filming of the reality show.
The Instagram Story contained slides of accusations, criticizing the RHOC cast member and her behavior with the other stars on set. Joel wrote:
"Just because you're a pathetic drunk on a reality television show best known for a string of failed relationships and a DUI doesn't make you a star and does not give you license to treat the people you work with like they are subhuman. Period."
He continued that "they" would make him delete his post. However, in case others wanted "to see some videos" they could DM him asking for the same. He made two subsequent posts about the RHOC star, where he wrote:
"Well that was quick. Anyway. Don't regret it hope you screenshot it. Hope she suffers."
The comedian even drew a reference to the RHOC star's ex-husband John Janssen, calling him a "poor guy," for having been in a relationship with Shannon. The Queen of Bravo Instagram account claimed that Joel went on Instagram Live to badmouth Shannon some more.
During the live show, she admitted she was upset by the image Joel painted of her. She claimed it to be untrue and demeaning. The RHOC star mentioned that she enjoyed her experience filming Love Hotel and could only wait and see what the future had in store for her.
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs every Thursday at 9 pm ET only on Bravo.
