In season 2 of Perfect Match, a Netflix dating show, the couples were recently tested when the eliminated contestants returned for the separate men's and women's mixers. While this caused issues in several couples' relationships, viewers were eager to see how it would impact Chris and Tolú, who unexpectedly developed genuine feelings for one another.
Tolú thought she and Chris were "locked in" and could see them sharing a long-term bond. However, The Trust star was disappointed in Chris when Xanthi told her that he felt Tolú was stopping him from exploring other connections in the villa.
In episode 9, Xanthi revealed that Chris said he could not experience and explore new connections on Perfect Match completely now that he was paired with Tolú. However, he denied Xanthi's claim and told Tolú he wanted to be with her. Perfect Match season 2 episode 9 released exclusively on Netflix on June 14, 2024, and fans saw Tolú clearing the air with Chris and deciding to believe him.

"At the end of the day., the heart wants what the heart wants. So when he says he's just tunnel vision on me and him, I just gotta take him at his word for that. So yeah, he's my man. I'm about to stick beside him," she said.
Chris denied Xanthi's statement on Perfect Match season 2 and Tolú gave him another chance
On Perfect Match season 2 episode 8, when Xanthi, Stevan, and Chris were in the pool, the Dated and Related contestant stated that the show was about to end soon and he felt that he wasn't fully experiencing the experiment. He told Xanthi that his connection with Tolú wasn't as strong as he thought it was. He admitted that he was confused about whether to keep his options or not, and said:
"Last night definitely put things into perspective that, like, time is of the essence, and weren't gonna be here that much longer. And I feel like ever since, like, I've been with Tolu, I feel like I'm guilty of like no exploring more."
During a confessional interview, Chris explained that he didn't want to miss out on something good just because he was already coupled up. He admitted to still being interested in Xanthi even though he was with Tolú.
"I'm matched with Tolú and we have a great thing going however I'm also interested in Xanthi. You know, I do find her very attractive. You can have something really good with someone, but at the same time, you might have something even better with someone else," he added.
When Xanthi disclosed that Chris mentioned he would've gotten together with her in a different setting, Tolú was upset. She asked Chris if he wanted to explore other connections but he said he wanted to match with her and no one else. The Perfect Match contestant said she didn't want to hold anyone back and "tie them down" to her.
Chris then got teary-eyed when he saw Tolú talking to another contestant, Nigel, and expressed his disappointment in how he worded his statement. He admitted that he wanted to see if there was a better connection for him with someone else but was sure of being with Tolú. His partner then consoled him and decided to match with him again despite Xanthi telling her not to.
