What happened in Hell's Kitchen 23 episode 4?
The Hell's Kitchen episode kicked off with teams heading back from last week’s elimination as Blue team contemplated Egypt's behavior. While the team confronted Egypt about his inflated ego, the latter promised to “tone it down” only if his teammates would “amp up” in the kitchen.
The next morning brought a new challenge for the chefs who headed down the kitchen to make some pickles. In order to find out the ingredients, the 14 chefs had to participate in a game of pickleball. Before starting the game, Gordon asked one of the chefs from the Red team to volunteer and move over to the Blue Team so that both teams could have equal players.
Ultimately, Lulu put her hand up first and was moved over to the men’s team on Hell's Kitchen. In the game, chefs had to hit their pickleballs onto the barrels to get different ingredients. Two chefs, who earned the same ingredients, had to compete against each other. Here’s what the contestants got:
- Anne Marie/Joe – Apple and Cod
- Lulu/Amanda – Brussel Sprouts and Sole
- Magali/Brandon – Red Beets and Pork Chop
- Egypt/Meghan – Pineapple and Salmon
- Anthony/Brittany – Carrots and Mahi Mahi
- Whit/Michael – Blueberries and Prawns
- Hannah/Kyle – Okra and Duck Breast
Lulu joined the Blue team for the first time and advised them to communicate because that had been the Red team's strategy for the wins. As chefs plated their dishes, Amanda was the only one who didn't put the pickle on her plate. Gordon introduced Chef Dan Barber as the guest judge for this challenge.
Here’s the list of winners for each matchup on Hell's Kitchen:
- Blue team - Lulu defeated Amanda
- Ann Marie and Joe - Their match was tied
- Hannah and Kyle - Their match was tied
- Blue team - Egypt defeated Meghan
- Red team - Whit won against Michael
- Red team - Brittany deafeated Anthony
- Blue team - Brandon won against Magali
As the ties earned both teams equal points, the Blue team won the challenge by a score of 5-4 for the first time this season. They won a trip to Grace Island for a night, while the Red team had to visit a farm to process 15 tons of cow manure.
Later, the Hell's Kitchen dinner service started and Egypt was assigned the appetizer station. Gordon noticed his mistakes and asked for him to calm down. As things heated up, the Blue team's Michael served some raw scallops. In the Red team's kitchen, Ann Marie added peas instead of parsley to Gordon’s risotto dish.
It took almost half an hour for both teams to serve up food to the customers but the teams moved on to the entrées. While Lulu asked her teammates to calm down, Joe exclaimed that Gordon made him nervous. He served two raw racks of lamb, which prompted Gordon to kick them out of the kitchen.
The Red team wasn't far behind as they served raw halibut after bland potatoes and Gordon kicked the Red team out of Hell's Kitchen as well. Both teams had to nominate two players from their teams for elimination. The Red team nominated Magali and Ann Marie, while the Blue team took Michael and Egypt's names. As the episode, concluded, Gordon decided to eliminate Michael.
