Hell’s Kitchen season 23 episode 2 started with a Flambé competition. Throughout this chaotic episode, the Blue and Red teams competed to win a punishment pass. Elimination also took place, leading to Gordan deciding which one of the participants was to be sent home.

Contestants in the Blue team include Anthony, Brandon, Corbin, Egypt, Joe, Kyle, Michael, Shant, and Uri. Meanwhile, the Red team comprises Amanda, Amber, Ann Marie, Brittany, Hannah, Lulu, Magali, Meghan, and Whit. In episode 2, a punishment pass was introduced as each contestant was put through "rigorous tests" to impress Gordan Ramsay. However, things don't go as planned, leading to a disastrous dinner serving and an elimination.

The Blue team had disagreements, which led to a lack of time management and trusting one another. Hell’s Kitchen season 23 episode 2, titled The Flame Game, was released exclusively on FOX on October 3, 2024. The episode synopsis reads as the following:

"When the punishment pass is introduced to the chefs, the pressure is on to deliver; a fiery flambé challenge."

What happened in Hell’s Kitchen season 23 episode 2?

In Hell’s Kitchen season 23, episode 2, each team was given a 40-minute time margin to unanimously decide on three dishes to be sent in front of Ramsay. Egypt was upset that his team members didn't send his dish; instead, Brandon, Joe, and Michael's dish were sent. However, it was a good decision because the Blue team received a punishment pass due to Brandon's dish.

Meghan, Magali, and Whit's efforts were praised out of the dishes sent from the women's side. Gordan was impressed by Whit's pineapple and salmon dish. The two Hell’s Kitchen contestants, Brandon and Whit, were declared winners and given the responsibility of choosing the worst dishes made by their team.

While Whit selected Ann Marie and Brittany, Brandon chose Shant and Egypt's dishes as the worst. However, Gordan disagreed with their selections, saying that all four made great efforts and their dishes were delicious. The Hell's Kitchen judge decided to skip elimination from the Blue team.

When it was time for dinner, chaos erupted amongst both teams. From the Blue team, Corbin and Shant faced problems; meanwhile, Egypt guided Michael on his raw lamb rack. However, Michael didn't believe him and sent his dish forward. Gordan was annoyed at the entire Blue Team's lack of management and told them to nominate two contestants from their team for elimination.

Magali and Amber were selected for a possible elimination from the Red team in Hell's Kitchen. Meanwhile, the Blue team selected Michael and Shant as their nominees. Towards the end of the episode, Gordan chose Amber due to her "inability to cook."

"Amber’s inability to cook or even count scallops was all I needed to know that I couldn’t count on her to be my next head chef,” Gordon said.

The upcoming episodes will reveal more difficult challenges as the contestants compete to impress Gordan.
