Hell's Kitchen season 23 is coming to FOX this September. The popular and internationally recognized reality competition cooking show has been renewed not for one, but two more seasons.
FOX has officially announced the return of its long-running series via a press release on its website - FOX Flash. The announcement was also posted on the Instagram handle of the show, as the caption read,
"Let the flames begin! #HellsKitchen returns in one month with the Season 23 premiere Sept. 26th on @foxtv, and next day on @hulu."
The popular show, hosted by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, is set to return with its 23rd installment on the FOX network and Hulu streaming platform, and the announcement has got viewers excited all over social media.
What to expect in season 23 of Hell's Kitchen
Although the list of competitors for season 23 is still pending, some information has started to surface. Returning to oversee the blue crew, as seen from a recent post on James' Instagram account (@chefjamesavery), Sous Chef James will replace Sous Chef Jason, who is currently busy opening new restaurants.
The theme of the upcoming edition of Hell's Kitchen is “head chefs only.” This could be an indication that this season might just become an all-champs competition.
Viewers this season will experience the new set of this reality TV fixture. The Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, where Gordan Ramsey’s restaurant is located, will now be the site of the show's tapings. It is a significant departure from its previous locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
The legacy of Hell's Kitchen
The show has been a FOX staple for nearly 20 years, with over 350 episodes broadcasted. The show's concept is simple but effective—aspiring restaurant cooks are put through a rigorous culinary academy to prove to Ramsay that they have the skill and resilience to succeed.
“Only those who can take the searing heat of Hell’s Kitchen will continue to compete each week until one prevails as the winner,” read a quote in the FOX press release.
The stakes are extremely high, as the winner not only gets the much sought-after title of Hell's Kitchen champion but also receives a chef position at one of Ramsay's well-known restaurants.
Excited about the show's ongoing popularity, Ramsay stated via the FOX press release that it was his "very first show on FOX," indicating his connection to it. "Hell's Kitchen holds a very special place in my heart," he further commented.
“This show just keeps getting better and better, and with FOX, ITV and A. Smith & Co. as my partners, you can expect even bigger challenges, stronger talent and more intense competition in Hell’s Kitchen in the years to come,” Ramsay added.
What happened in the previous season
Ryan O'Sullivan of Cork, Ireland, emerged victorious as he defeated Huntington Beach's Jonathan Benvenuti in the finale of season 22 of Hell's Kitchen, which ended with Ryan winning the $250,000 cash prize and the coveted post of head chef at Hell's Kitchen Las Vegas.
The season was full of high-stakes trials, with Ryan and Johnathan leading their brigades to the final dinner service to determine the winner.
Throughout the season, 18 participants competed in teams that were first segregated based on gender. The male candidates comprised the blue team, while the female contestants comprised the red squad.
Under the watchful eye of host Gordon Ramsay, the chefs competed in a variety of culinary challenges, culminating in an exciting conclusion in which Ryan was proclaimed the winner.
Mark your calendars for September 26, 2024, when season 23 debuts on FOX. Fans have a lot to look forward to in the Hell's Kitchen universe, especially with season 24 rumored to premiere soon after.
