The Boyfriend on Netflix has been making waves on the internet since it was released on July 9. The dating reality TV show is the first of its kind in Japan, with the plot focusing on gay relationships. The last episode, i.e. episode 10 was released on July 30, and became the centre of discussion for several reasons.
One among them was Taeheon's heartwarming talk with Gensei, where he opened up about his nervousness about coming out to his parents. Fans of the show reacted to this moment and took to Twitter to react to it.
Some of them noted that it had been several months since The Boyfriend was filmed so Taeheon might have come out to his parents already. Keeping his discussion with Gensei in mind, they hoped Taeheon was accepted.

A lot of the fans wrote how "touching" they found Teaheon's confession and vulnerability. They also expressed sorrow over his exit from the show and the fact that no one picked him despite his sensibilities.
"Out of all this the most touching story was taeheon finding the strength to come out to his family. that is such a hard journey and it warmed my heart that this experience gave him the love and support he needed to feel okay to do so," one tweet read.
"I wish the best for Taeheon, I hope he has the best coming out to his parents, hope he is aware that everyone loves him & supports him," read one post.
"Taeheon was always there for everyone. I hope that regardless of how the outcome of his coming out to his parents he feels free and the pain he carries is lifted. Glad he got lots of screen time these last few eps. Never get how no one was attracted to him," read another.

Before Taeheon parted ways with his co-contestants on episode 10 of The Boyfriend, he thanked them and appreciated his time in the show in a speech. His heartwarming speech not only made the participants cry but also made fans feel sad about his exit from the show. He said,
"The truth is, before I joined you, it was hard for me to think about ever telling my parents that I was attracted to men".
He added that he joined "the project" because he wanted to come out to them but didn't know how to. But now with the support of eight new friends that he made on The Boyfriend, he said he felt more confident to tell them.
