Although Big Brother season 26 concluded on October 13, 2024, CBS is already planning for the next season as they look for new houseguests. The casting site for Big Brother has rolled over, giving newcomers the chance to apply to be a part of this long-running show, which debuted in 2000.
The portal provides all the necessary information on how to apply and what makes a person eligible to participate in the competition. The winner of the latest season was awarded $750,000, which is an important factor when applying for the part.
How to apply to be a part of Big Brother
The website bigbrothercasting.tv highlights four key steps on how to apply to be a part of the show. First, the website asks interested candidates to watch a YouTube video by casting director Jesse Tennenbaum advising applicants on how to put their best foot forward during the process.
The second step asks the applicant to prerecord a video to submit the application. The portal mentions that the production team does not hold open auditions. It is also advised that the hopeful contestants send in a proper audition video and not their previous TikTok videos containing dancing or working out, among other things.
In his YouTube video, Jesse advises not to use any beauty filters that might alter your looks. He also pointed out that applicants should avoid sunglasses and not film in a dark room so the directors can see the applicants clearly.
He mentioned that previously, people have sent in auditions during their lunch breaks from a cubicle, which is not ideal as people tend to be quieter during that time, and the show creators prefer people showing off their personalities. Jesse further advised not to make a script for the audition process or cue cards.
"You want us to get a feel for who you are. The big misconception is that this video needs to be super flashy. I appreciate a video where you just hit record, you talk for 2-3 minutes, you hit stop, and send it in because I'm getting to see who you really are," said Jesse.
Jesse also pointed out that even if an applicant curses in their audition, it would not matter as long as they are being authentic.
In the third step, the applicant must save a picture and the aforementioned video on their computer.
The final step would require the applicant to complete the online application and upload the video and picture. In the online application, the applicants must fill out basic details, including their name, address, and phone number, among other things.
The eligibility requirements are highlighted with 13 points:
- The applicants must travel at their own expense if in case the producers select them for an interview. Despite that, the producers have the right to add, cancel, and/or substitute interview locations.
- For the final selection process, the applicant must be willing to travel to Los Angeles for at least a week as scheduled by the producers. The production team will pay for this trip.
- The applicant must also be willing to live in the Big Brother house for approximately 100 days in Los Angeles with little to no privacy among strangers.
- The Big Brother house is also filled with video and audio recording devices that will record and broadcast their actions and voices twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
- Stipend payments and prize winnings are not paid until the final episode is broadcast.
- The applicant must be 21 years of age.
- The applicant must be a United States citizen.
- Candidates for public office currently will not be selected.
- Candidates must be in excellent physical and mental health.
- In case the applicant is selected, they must provide documents like a birth certificate, passport, or other identification and a Medical History Form.
- A finalist candidate must complete the Participant Form Package, which includes affidavits, release forms, and waivers for them and their family members.
- Once applied, producers of Big Brother are then authorized to conduct civil, criminal, financial, and other types of background checks deemed necessary.
- Employees, officers, directors, and agents (and their immediate families) of associated production companies like CBS Broadcasting Inc. are not eligible to be participants on Big Brother.
The show's production team will reach out to the applicant via email if they want to move forward with the casting process.
