Claim to Fame season 3 released its latest episode on Wednesday, July 24. It featured the remaining eight contestants, divided into two teams, competing against each other in a telephone challenge.
Miguel found himself on the losing team and was sent as the guesser to try and decode a clue to reveal the identity of another player's celebrity relative. He guessed Dedrick's celebrity relative to be musician Little Richard. However, it was an incorrect assumption, leading to Miguel's elimination.
As a result, Miguel's celebrity relative was revealed, and it was Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis. The Claim to Fame cast member disclosed that his real name was Raphael Miguel Curtis and that he was the son of Jamie Lee Curtis' half-sister, Allegra Curtis.
Claim to Fame season 3 star Miguel reveals he came from a family of actors and actresses
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, published on July 24, Claim to Fame cast member Raphael 'Miguel' Curtis shared details about his relationship with aunt Jamie Lee Curtis.
He stated that growing up, he had "never been around her [Jamie], like, constantly." Although he shared a cordial relationship with his family, he added that he was "not necessarily" too close with his aunt. He went on to say that he met her during "visits" or "maybe vacations."
The Claim to Fame cast member revealed he never saw Jamie "in person" as frequently. Despite that, he credited her for being there for his family during tough times. He was grateful to her for being a "source of support." During his time on the show, he recalled her generous gestures.
"When I was younger, my mother ended up in the hospital [and] went through some really hard times and my celebrity relative stepped in to help," said Miguel.
Miguel shared that he came from a family of renowned actors. Even his mother, Allegra Curtis, was an actress and businesswoman. Jamie Lee Curtis herself was the daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.
Despite the presence of A-listers in his family, he confessed he did not watch "too many" of their movies to keep his opinion about them unbiased.
"I haven't necessarily gone out of my way to really watch too many of the movies or the shows that people have been on, just because I've always felt like you should give that person in your family that amount of respect of, like, maybe not always being so obsessive about what they're doing," stated Miguel.
He went on to explain that he tried not to curate his "affection for somebody" based on their profession.
"I love my family for how they are; I don't love them for what they do," explained Miguel.
Miguel confessed that he purposely tricked the other Claim to Fame players by using his middle name instead of his first. It created the impression that he was of Latin origin. He stated that disclosing his name, especially his surname, would have allowed the contestants to guess that he was somehow related to Jamie Lee Curtis.
Therefore, he crafted the illusion to keep himself safe from their suspicion. He even talked about Banderas to misguide his castmates even more.
He confessed he had no regrets despite getting eliminated from the show. He added that it "felt good" to disclose who he was after his aunt, Jamie Lee Curtis' identity was revealed.
"Honestly, it was so tiring trying to pretend to be something that I wasn't. Like I say in the episode, ripping of the sheep's head mask, it felt good because it's like - you're showing everyone what you are capable of," Miguel added.
Claim to Fame season 3 airs new episodes every Wednesday at 10 pm ET only on ABC.
