How did Francesca and Chema know each other before Love is Blind: Mexico? Details explored

Love is Blind: Mexico premiered on Thursday, August 1, 2024. It released the first four episodes of the regional spin-off of the popular social experiment aimed at finding out whether love truly is blind. Fans were introduced to a new set of singles as they got to know each other through a wall in the pods.

However, two people knew each other before being on the show. Chema and Francesca, who got engaged to different people while on the Netflix show, had known each other for five years. In episode 4, Fransesca sheds light on their friendship.

"Obviously, I've known Chemaita for about five years. He is or was best friends with a really wonderful man I dated," she revealed in a confessional.

In the episode, Francesca revealed that while in the pods, another cast member, Fernanda, asked her why she wasn't interested in Chema, which she found funny. After discovering that the two had known each other since before the show, Silvia, who was engaged to Chema, stated that the "gossip" was "starting off strong."

"Out of all the millions of people who could've been here with us, these two, who I love very much, know each other. What are the chances, right?" Silvia added in a confessional.

"He got his sh*t together": Francesca praises Chema to Silvia in Love is Blind: Mexico episode 4

In Love is Blind: Mexico season 1 episode 4, Silvia pulls Francesca away for a private chat because she wants to inquire a little about Chema. She asks the latter if she can tell her something about her fiancé since she doesn't want to "mess it up."

Recalling when the Love is Blind: Mexico season 1 participant found out that he was going to be a father, Francesca said:

"The second he knew he was going to be a father with someone he wasn't serious about, he said, "Okay, I'm going to be a father" and he got his sh*t together."

The season 1 cast member further added that not many people would have done what Chema did and said that she admired him. Francesca added that Chema "really gave it his all with his ex" and wasn't the one to end that relationship. She added that he would have kept trying to mend the relationship because of his "big heart."

"He may hide it, but he has a big heart," she added.

Chema approached the two women, and Silvia jokingly called him Barbara Walters. Adding in on the fun, Francesca said that Silvia asked her about him and she said nothing. The three of them continued the conversation and Silvia said that she told Francesca that he had been her "chosen one" since day one on Love is Blind: Mexico.

She added that he made her nervous sometimes and that she didn't know how to act around him. Silvia added that Francesca assured her that everything was going to work out just fine and that the Love is Blind: Mexico cast member didn't have to worry about it.

Recalling their time on the pods, Silvia noted that Francesca "always encouraged" her to go after Chema. In a confessional, the latter opened up about her concerns about Chema's new relationship.

"Knowing Chema's past, what makes me a little nervous is how particular he is about appearance. But I don't know how he's feeling now," Francesca added.

Later in the episode, Chema and Silvia talked about Francesca and the latter said she respected the female cast member "so much." She told her fiancé that she was glad to hear the way Francesca spoke about Chema because it confirmed what she already knew about him. Silvia added that after their conversation, "any little doubts" she had were gone.

"She said I hit the jackpot and I really think I did," she added.

While in a confessional, she elaborated on the same and said that she "bagged" a person who was "handsome, attentive, sweet, and honest."
