"Hurt and upset"— The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith confronts Shawn over his comment about her son

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 episode 9 premiered on November 13, on Bravo. Titled Revenge Is Best Served in Coach, the episode featured a dinner segment containing all the housewives and their partners.

During the segment, Meredith Marks mentioned a conversation she had with Angie Katsanevas' husband, Shawn Trujillo, two weeks ago. She recalled approaching Shawn to apologize for rumors she hadn't spread, simply because he was greatly affected by them.

In that conversation, Meredith also confronted Shawn about a comment he made on a Behind The Velvet Rope podcast, released on October 30, 2023, accusing her of using her son’s sexuality to deflect from her own issues and portray herself as a victim.

In the recent episode, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star told Shawn that she was hurt by his comment and was seeking an apology from him.

"I have to be honest, I walked away a little hurt and upset. I felt like I gave you a heartfelt apology over something I didn't even do, just because I felt badly you went through it. And I told you that I was hurt by something you said about my son and you didn't apologize to me."

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith wanted Shawn to apologize

In The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 episode 9, Meredith came into the dinner gathering hoping to get an apology from Shawn for what he said about her son Brooks Marks.

While Shawn believed that they cleared the aid during their conversation two weeks ago, Meredith said that she did as she was hurt by what he said.

"I was highly apologetic to you for something I didn't do and told you that I was hurt by a comment you made. And all I wanted was 'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that about your child'," Meredith told Shawn.

Uncertain about Meredith’s intentions, Shawn asked her to clarify what she believed he had said. Meredith then paraphrased his podcast statement, saying he had accused her of using her son's sexuality to deflect from her own questionable behavior.

"She [Meredith] took the opportunity to leverage her son and things like that, knowing that this didn't land quite the way they wanted it to," Shawn's statement from Behind The Velvet Rope podcast.

Shawn believed that he didn't owe her an apology as he didn't say anything wrong about her son and she should have listened to the entire podcast to get the context of where he was coming from.

"What I can remember is this sh*t that was talked about last year not landing well and you utilized the LGBTQ community to kind of leverage... some sort of... middle ground in that. But I never said anything specifically about Brooks... I've already told you twice. And I would never use your kid in a bad way. I would never use that against you," Shawn added.

Shawn told Meredith that she was once again causing drama and victimizing herself. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star replied that she wasn't victimizing herself and just felt bad about his comments and wanted an apology,

Angie Katsanevas’ husband reiterated that he did not say anything wrong about her son and he can't remember "leveraging or using Brooks as a pawn".

"Let me tell you something. If I said anything demeaning towards Brooks, I'll certainly apologize. But I haven't done that. I have not done that. And I'll stand on that and I'll double down on it," he concluded.
