Rachel Leviss, ex-star of Vanderpump Rules, has commented on her ex-fiancé, James Kennedy, being recently arrested for allegedly committing misdemeanor domestic violence. In her post shared in her Instagram Stories on December 13, Leviss wrote about the situation by sharing a screenshot of an article from TMZ.

Over the screenshot, Leviss included a link to an episode of her April podcast, titled Bad At Love, and wrote:

“The amount of times I convinced myself that the abuse I endured by James Kennedy Georgiou was a ‘misunderstanding’ is sickening.”

This statement followed James Kennedy's arrest on December 10, after an argument led to a police call at his Los Angeles home. He was later booked for misdemeanor domestic violence, though no visible injuries were reported. Kennedy posted bail later that day, and formal charges are still under review.

The arrest and its aftermath

James Kennedy, 32 years old, was arrested following a response to a domestic dispute by the Burbank Police Department. The police determined the incident to be domestic violence-related and had him booked for misdemeanor domestic violence.

According to TMZ, no injuries were reported when the officers arrived at the scene. Kennedy was released on $20,000 bail. The publication also reported that a witness allegedly observed Kennedy becoming physical with the unnamed woman, though authorities did not find any injuries.

The identity of the woman involved was not immediately confirmed, but Kennedy had been with his current girlfriend, Ally Lewber, at a holiday party earlier that evening. Lewber has been dating Kennedy since early 2022.

Leviss' statement and legal response

Leviss, who was engaged to Kennedy for seven months in 2021, addressed the arrest through her attorneys. Her legal team, led by Mark Geragos and Bryan Freedman, issued a statement to People magazine, expressing that the arrest was not surprising.

"This news is, unfortunately, not surprising. Rachel’s lawsuit describes, in significant detail, Mr. Kennedy’s long history of erratic, violent behavior and substance abuse.” the statement read.

They highlighted that Leviss' lawsuit, which includes claims related to revenge po*n against her ex Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix, contains detailed accounts of Kennedy’s violent behavior.

Leviss' legal team claimed that Kennedy's violent tendencies were exacerbated by substance abuse, with Leviss alleging that Kennedy regularly accused her of cheating and engaged in explosive outbursts. Some of these incidents were documented on camera, while others were not.

Leviss also underscored an instance at a Thanksgiving gathering where Kennedy reportedly kicked her family dog and directed his anger at her parents.

Kennedy's legal team responds

Kennedy’s legal team responded to the arrest by stating that they were conducting their investigation into the allegations. In a statement obtained by People on December 13, the Vanderpump Rules star's attorneys explained,

“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James.”

They also noted that no injuries were reported at the scene and expressed hope that the city attorney’s office would ultimately decide not to file formal charges.

Allegations of cover-up

Leviss' legal team also highlighted what they described as a longstanding pattern of mishandling the Vanderpump Rules star's behavior. According to the lawsuit, NBC, Evolution Media (the production company behind Vanderpump Rules), and Bravo were aware of Kennedy's history of violent and erratic behavior.

Leviss' attorneys emphasized that these companies had failed to take action, suggesting that Kennedy's actions had been covered up.

“Just as troubling, however, is that NBC and Evolution (the Vanderpump Rules production company), who have known about Mr. Kennedy’s troubling behavior all along, have been engaged in a multi-year cover-up on his behalf. They, too, bear responsibility,” the attorneys said.

No official word has come from the side of Kennedy's lawyers over the claims. The investigations regarding the case are still under process.

Vanderpump Rules Season 12 will start filming in 2025. The premiere date and cast list will be announced soon.
