On September 11, Netflix's survival reality show came to an end, as Team Bravo members Drew and Drake made it to the finale and won the Outlast season 2. For their final challenge, the remaining teams had to make an 11 km trip of their own. They were provided with a map of their respective path and a compass to help them navigate their way.
However, Delta team member Tina was devastated by the loss. She was exhausted by the end of the challenge and blamed herself for dragging her team behind. In her confessional, Tina shared that her "heart was shattered" by the loss. She said that she failed her team and her mom and felt crumbled. Tina said:
"It hit me that I... failed. I ... I failed my team. I ... I failed my mom. And I just ... I crumbled. I crumbled."
Despite coming in second, her team consoled her and encouraged her to finish the last part of the challenge and end the show together.
Outlast season 2 finale challenge
Team Bravo's Drake and Drew weren't familiar with using a compass and they struggled with the directions at the start of their trip. Drake led the team while Drew was holding the compass and gave him the directions.
They had a quicker pace in comparison to Delta. However, Delta was the one to reach their waypoint first and confirmed that they were on the correct path. With a small lead, Delta started their walk for their next waypoint while Bravo was still searching for their first.
Team Bravo said that they needed to find a river and then just follow it to the finish line. However, they got their directions mixed up and got off-tracked. In his confessional, Drew said that he thought that they passed the beaver dam, but seeing the beaver dam in from of him meant that they took a wrong turn somewhere. Drew said:
"We get to where the river's supposed to be, and we're at the beaver dam. And I'm thinking to myself, I thought we passed the beaver dam. I thought something I saw back there was the beaver dam. That means one thing. We got turned around somewhere and took a wrong turn".
Team Bravo was way off course due to their inability to read maps and use the compass. However, they managed to get out of the woods and find their location on the map. They found the river they were looking for and just had to follow it.
While on the other hand, their opposition team had a lead and was right on their track. Despite being on the right path, Delta was a five-person team and had to move ahead as a group.
Mountain man Brendon decided to take matters into his own hands and started to move in the direction he thought was the right one. His Outlast castmate Tina struggled to push her weight through. They crossed muskeg and had a clear path ahead of them, however, Tina was exhausted and had to take breaks after making small progress.
In her confessional, Tina shared that she was done and had no energy left in her. However, she said that her Outlast teammates motivated her every step of the way and helped her to push through.
As the narrator stated, Bravo became the first team to close in on the finish line and one last thing to do. In the final part of the challenge, Outlast season two teams had to start a friction fire to win the show.
"They must use a bow drill, a prehistoric survival tool consisting of a bow, a spindle, and a baseboard to start a friction fire. Once the fire is big enough to light the bundle of boughs ten feet above it, flare smoke will be released, signaling the end of the game and the winners of the one-million-dollar prize," Narrator explained
Despite the fact that they were using the tools for the first time, Bravo managed to create a fire and won season two of Outlast.
All episodes of Outlast Season 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
